I experienced and noticed that there is tiny but constant vibration coming through the steering wheel after using the lockers. The vibration cannot be physically seen but it can be felt and as it's constant it becomes quite uncomfortable on the wrist after a short whole. The vibrations go away after the car has rested for a good time. Anyone experience this?
I am having a loss of power steering whilst off-roading at 1700m with 15+ switchbacks needed for descent. Any advice? Bardonechia area NW Italy
Wondering if everybody has this sound. Speed isn't important, it is the importance of the bouncing, I had it at lower speeds too. I think it is the stabilisation stuff (don't know the technical name) in front of the car, View: https://youtu.be/LpcKlzz9-xs?feature=shared
Hi, Has anyone else had a "squeaking" from the n/s front of the vehicle when driving over uneven ground be it off road or just bad road surface? I have already had the damper replaced under warranty as when it hit near full bound or rebound it squeaked badly but this has been remedied so I think that squeak was hiding the the current one. I did think it could be dry bushings as the weather has been hot and dry recently but it sounds more like something has not been fitted correctly and? TCM
Where may I find the setting for my new Grenadier steering geometry. Mine was delivered with steering wheel offset. I would rather do it myself to make sure it is correct.
Steering wheel is not straight. Dealer says it is normal ? Has somebody the same experience?
Thread 'loose nut of front stabilizer'
As I have some "noises" since I did some off-road and stone tracks some weeks ago, I regularly try to find out what's wrong. Yesterday, as my left front wheel was in a "left turn" position, I could easily inspect the wiring and conduits. I also grabbed with my hands several parts and tried to move them, and suddenly I perceived that the stabilizer was loose, the nut became loose, see the picture. Picture was taken after giving a quarter turn to the nut, with my hand! No tools. I tightened...
So having a conversation today, I have heard there is a new version of the steering, I guess its a new box, possibly with variable ratios in the box. I believe its already in production, so late 2023/2024 cars will have it. I really want to test it side by side but the person I was speaking to, has driven both. I have not seen this on the forum before. I was told there is no plan to upgrade existing cars though. I don't believe the steering lock is any different. UPDATE:- I have driven it...
We took delivery of the Fieldmaster last Thursday, on Monday travelling at speed (60mph) suddenly the steering went soft and the car veered dramatically to the left , emergency stop onto hard shoulder of motorway and jumped out to find a big burning smell coming from the car . AA pick up and vehicle back to the dealer , so far no word of what's wrong ...........has anyone else experienced this ?
Has anyone come across a knocking sound when turning the steering wheel. Happened rarely before but now it's permanent when turning a half rotation either to the left or right and many more when lock to lock. Difficult to describe so will try video it. It's like the steering column is hitting something. I did put the car through its paces offroad on Friday and yesterday so may have buggered something up.
Honest question I’d like the throw out there. The squeal heard in the video happens with minimal wheel turn. It is mostly constant when driving but stops briefly sometimes. It can be heard from inside the cabin with windows up. The A/C is off. Dealer thought it might be normal as they tested several of their cars and they all did this to varied noise levels. I’m not incredibly mechanically inclined, have a few guesses, but could use the help from people who know more. I don’t remember this...
I couldn't find this problem previously reported. When turning, initially right only now both ways, I hear a clicking noise that can be felt as well. First reported to my dealer, they greased some bearings (forgot the exact name) and that appeared to correct the issue. A few days later and it's back. Any ideas or others with similar issue?
Thread 'Steering Damper attachment'
Watching a recent youtube video on an American vehicle, I note with interest that Ineos appear to have made a change to the attachment of the steering damper (See Photos) Video (about the 18:50 mark) View: https://youtu.be/ZvPNwz-IUUk?si=MbYaUG5FI_lOuQG7 I guess this would help to not get hung up on the damper mount (I have before) but not so sure on the bolt safety now being on the under side. A captive protection ring would help here. I know KAON in Aust make them for some vehicles...
Here is an article about a new recall on the steering rod ball joint...Affects 61 vehicles and as of Dec 7th they modified the procedure on the assembly line. https://www.autoevolution.com/news/ineos-grenadier-recalled-over-potential-steering-rod-ball-joint-disconnection-227312.html
I'm working with a couple of suppliers to put together a 2" lift. Has this been done or should I keep pushing forward. It will take the Gren out of commission for a couple of weeks but that is OK. How much demand do you think there will be?
I'm in the UK. My vehicle is four months old. I was expecting to have to get used to the steering system from all the reviews. The stability at anything over 60mph feels unstable, but I thought it was just a characteristic and got used to driving slower, especially on motorways. I've got a loan car as mine is in for the software update and a few other things. The loaner stability is much better than mine, and it felt okay even at 80 miles per hour. My steering feels to have a bit more...
Thread 'Failed Bolt - Suspension Arm'
I noticed a nut sitting under my Grenadier this afternoon - closer inspection revealed it to be the nut and part of the bolt (sheared through) from the rear passenger side suspension arm bush. Luckily it dropped off at home rather than out on the road! Has anyone else had this happen? On a positive note, response from Ineos Recovery (AA) was very swift - didn’t have a bolt of the same size but had one big enough at least to get me to the dealership (luckily only a few miles away for me)...
After seeing that over 60 Ineos Grenadier vehicles have been recalled in the US I wanted to try to find out how many of us this has affected. Our Grenadier had an almost catastrophic failure at the beginning of September. We flagged this as a potential safety hazard and were categorically told that it was a one off . Clearly this isn't the case... This is a serious safety issue, especially for those who are towing or off road etc . How long before someone has a serious accident or...
Thread 'Prototype Eibach 2.5” leveling + lift'
I am super honored and pleased to have been approached by Eibach in the US to prototype springs for them. they initially ordered a set of 30mm and 40mm euro spec springs to install on two cars here in california. Agile Offroad received and fit the 40mm set on their non winch equipped rig. Eibach decided to do some testing on the 30mm springs to potentially get more height and level the front. They accomplished this by stretching the springs and taking measurements, then letting me drive it...
