Earlier this year I stopped by MetalCloak near Sacramento, CA on the invitation of one of the owners (our kids go to the same school and we connected in the pickup line of all things). Several weeks passed and they asked if I could drop off my rig for some scanning, and then just a few weeks ago they informed me they had prototype items to install and test. They just posted in the Ineos Grenadier Owners - USA Facebook group a few videos of my rig trying to flex lol, but what is really...
In regards to the vibrations many seem to be feeling on their new Grenadiers, it reminded me of having the same thing happen on a couple of my Range Rover Sports, where I was feeling a vibration at certain rpm’s through my steering wheel. One was related to the tires/rims needing much better balancing, which was resolved by having the tires/rims balanced on a road force balancer. The other time, Land Rover decided to eliminate and not install a transfer case damper, which basically looked...
So I snapped a locking wheel nut, (not an OEM one). I had to drill out the stud to remove the nut, That was easy and I had the wheel off in no time. Removing the stud was a pain though. I already had the replacement studs, they come in a set of 6 and cost £11 each! The end of the stud that screws in to the hub is a different thread (M14x2?) to the wheel end (M14x1.5). My original plan was to use a stud extractor, this just wouldn’t grip enough to turn. I then tried the stud extractor in...
Thread 'Portals and 37s'
Now this gets some movement in my pants ...
Hi folks, With some Grenadiers on roads now, I'm hoping that we can share information on what we learn about the Grenadier's crash-worthiness. While I sincerely hope that none of us ever experience this, the fact is that as far as a significant risk goes, an automobile crash is one of the highest risks we all face when we choose to get behind the wheel, and so vehicle safety is no joke; for me personallly it's one of the main reasons I'm interested in the Grenadier over a much older...
Good morning all! Seeing a fair wack of misinformation starting to creep in regarding GVM and axle ratings to the Grenadier. Unfortunately, a lot appears to be originating at dealers. There are two common methods for changes made to vehicles in Australia. Post-Registration modifications will differ state to state, and it is recommended to liaise directly with your local State certifier regarding legalities. State Modifications only apply to vehicles registered in that State and do not...
Thread '2.5 down to 1.7'
I went with the 2.5, installed properly, at a reputable shop. I watched the CV joints for about a month with no problems. It's currently at the dealer getting its first service, and they sent me a pic of my split-open boot. I had not inspected it after going off-road the last time, so I'm guessing that's when it occurred. My question is, has anyone had shaft problems with the 1.7 front lift? I have searched and have not found anyone so far who has had problems with the 1.7 installed. I'll...
Walking up to my 25 Fieldmaster, I looked like it leans toward the drivers side. Thought maybe it was a parking lot angle. Got it home and in the garage. Measured from the floor to the bottom of the outer fender opening. Centered with the front wheel. Yep, it's off about 1/2 inch. Seems like that should be no big deal but its noticeable. Weak spring? Knowing me, this will bug me. Not sure the dealer will want to do anything but I'll ask. Any suggestions? Wonder if I could add a spacer?
It appears IA have inadvertently supplied us with the oil level checking tool in the "tool roll" supplied with the vehicle. In it you should have a T40 Allen type driver, this ironically measures 31mm as specified in the service sheets for the front and rear dif fill level procedure. G.
Thread 'How to change a front wheel stud and / or a front wheel bearing.'
So after changing a front wheel stud and bearing here’s a how to thread in case anyone else finds themselves in the same situation. I have used my own terminology for the parts, some of you might be triggered by this.. Sorry! Is it a brake disc or a rotor etc etc.. 1. Remove the wheel, in my case I had to drill out a stud to remove a broken lock nut. 2. Remove the brake calliper. To do this start by removing the plug for the brake wear indicator. There’s an Allen screw holding it in...
Has anyone experienced a hard pull to the front driver's side under hard braking, particularly if your truck has a lift? Ineos is suggesting this is par for the course based on suspension design, especially if the vehicle has a lift kit. It's pretty scary, especially the 1st time when not expecting it.
Grenadier is using Bilstein as the OEM shocks.  That's great news, they make outstanding gear.  Do we know *which* Bilstein shocks? In the US, we have access to several tiers of Bilstein offroad shocks for our trucks.  From the 4500/4600 series, which are typically the "off-road packaage" OEM shocks (which they were for my Tundra TRD Off-Road), to what are seen as better options such as the 5100 series and 6100 series.  And in the case of the first run of Tundra TRD Pro, TRD partnered with...
Anyone know the final gear ratio, how big of tires can fit (functionally) without modification, if there is space to replace suspension with something with longer travel? In the U.S., the suspension travel is on the low end for something meant for offroad, and I'd love to know if one can lift the Grenadier about 4 inches and throw 35 inch tires on. I understand that such a lift would require replacing upper control arms at least... but is that even possible?... is it even possible to...
Presume the IG will have a rust inhibitor and some sort of protection applied. Anyone got thoughts on applying another coat underneath/sills etc of something along the lines of Dinitrol or other such product. As intend to keep the IG until I pop off it would seem a decent approach.

Rear shock mount on a PT 02 at the game fair .
Hi, Intro: I am using the Grenadier as a route into Overlanding and been researching different vehicles along the way. I am going to go Roof Top Tent on a Grenadier Ineos, NOT a trailer. Probably a soft top because my Trailmaster order has the safari windows and I don't think there will be the length available on the roof for a hard shell. I will then look to get various kit for overlanding into the loading area. Context: The conventional wisdom for a Hilux or similar pick-up is...
Thread 'Chassis Pictures'
Anything in particular ~ I have my own archive I can dig through? Ones that most covers the scope:
Hello all - are there any Bronco owners here would/can chime in about the new Bronco's trail turn assist? I've read about it but am curious how those who have used it feel about it. I know the turning circle for the IG is rather large and I was wondering if something like it would work.
Here is a video I took of a brand new 79 series LC Same steering as the IG 4+ turns lock to lock and I have absolutely no problems coming from my 200 LC with 3 turns and rack and pinion steering. Yes its not as direct but to say its not great is IMO incorrect
Thread 'Tringlerie de direction'
Bonsoir Le système de direction du Grenadier. A la différence du DEFENDER, l'amortisseur de direction est ici fixé sur la barre de liaison entre les roues avant.
