Thread 'Warning Ineos Authorized towing packaged label'
I am looking at a used Ineos Grenadier and below where the 7-Pin connector should be is the following warning. Does anyone know what this means? Like is it wired but I do not have the towing software? Is it wired, but not hooked up?
After completing some small trips, I got to wondering what should I do with the auto transmission. I have never towed a heavy load with an auto before. In my TD5 Defender, I did not use 5th gear when towing unless going down a slight grade, and there was no stress on the transmission. Do people use manual mode, and not cruise in 8th? Want to preserve this transmission, and the vehicle for a long time. I do plan on using manual mode for steep downhill grades, to preserve the brakes...
Thread 'Photos of factory TBC?'
I pulled the right interior cargo panel searching for the stock TBC. Since I don't have a tow package, I probably don't have one. I'm trying to decipher the trailer brake wiring threads, so want to look in the TBC for the wires that people use for the redarc towpro elite trigger. Do any of these things look like a TBC? I'm guessing the thing with the large (2/0?) wires is probably the high amp relay for the Nato plug. (And why don't they cover these with silicone covers?) What about the...
Thread 'PSA: Wiring Pinch Point'
North American Spec Grenadier I noticed the brake pad sensor and wheel speed sensor wiring has been sandwiched between the steering gearbox and pitman arm. The wire retention clip is zip tied in the wrong location and will not reach the designated location on the plastic fender liner / cooler cover. It might be worth it to check and see if your wiring is also rubbing!
Because the published documentation is lacking, I sent Ineos the following letter: They replied several weeks later with the following: Thanks for contacting INEOS Automotive. Thank you for your questions regarding the Electronic Traction Control (ETC) system on the Grenadier and Quartermaster models. Please find our detailed responses below. 1. Does an ETC system exist on all Grenadier and Quartermaster models? Yes, an Electronic Traction Control system is fitted as standard on all...
An interesting but slightly off the hip take on The Grenadier vs Others on Payload stats.  https://youtu.be/Xy1OBULKKwk The thought that this did trigger for me was  that, the diesel Grenadier might have a lower payload. Because the engine will be heavier. At least that’s the case here with Jeep and Ram vehicles in the US.  Still the numbers look very promising for the Grenadier. I do wish the vehicle was a bit lighter though. 2600 kilos or 5700 is pretty porky.  Thoughts/ Comments?
I noticed in the detailed spec Australia RRP price list that the factory supplied towbar features a Class 3 1-7/8" NAS hitch.   Not sure if this is a UK centric sizing but, if so, then this could be an issue for those in Australia.   1-7/8" is 47mm.   In Australia a Class 3 hitch is nominally 40x40mm and Class 4 hitch is nominally 50x50mm (what everyone calls 2").   Checking Hayman Reece drawings the OD sizing of the square towbar fitting that slides into the hitch is actually 50.8mm (2"). ...
Thread 'Recovery Points - Load Ratings'
I was interested in finding out about the load ratings for both straight and angled pulls of the recovery points on the Grenadier and have been given the following information which may be of interest: Clearly built for purpose!
Thread 'Grenadier towing a Grenadier'
When you only have 2 drivers available
Re: the comment on the Grenadier feeling like it is wandering on hardtop roads and not returning to center. My brother who lives in Vermont said the Alignment shops up three used to have a chart asking if you were driving on flat or crowned road, since that determined how they would set up the alignment. On (left hand drive countries) a crowned road they could it up to stay in its lane but that would make it drift left on flat (generally unpaved road) and also that self centering feel...
Thread 'Caravaners / Towbar. Australia.'
Recently discovered the forum so thought I'd repost this here. It's just a heads up for those towing a van. The towbar receiver on the IG (PT02043) is around 150-170mm deep and seems to taper. My Hayman Reese hitch only slides in far enough to utilise the first pin hole. It really needs to go in another 50-60mm to the 3rd pin hole to minimise leverage. Not sure if this is the final towbar setup we'll get but can't see IA changing it just for AU. I can see hitches being lopped and grinded...
Thread 'Tow bar - but which tow bar? (EU spec)'
The EU configurators (eg Austrian) give two tow bar options (UK has only one): 1. "Fixed" tow bar (ETC) "FESTE „ANHÄNGERKUPPLUNG UND ELEKTRIK“ Feste Anhängerkupplung mit Elektrosatz. Die feste Anhängerkupplung lässt sich über drei verschiedene Montagepositionen der vertikalen Zugvorrichtung in der Höhe verstellen. Translation: "FIXED "TRAILER HITCH AND ELECTRICAL" Fixed trailer hitch with wiring kit. The height of the fixed trailer hitch can be adjusted via three different mounting...
This may have been posted before-IG comes out on top nearly every time https://l2sfbc.com/3500kg-tow-rated-wagons-which-can-tow-the-most/
Hi, out of interest has anyone who optioned a tow ball/hook had it come with a cover for the tow ball? All my previous vehicles have but the Grenadier has not is that usual?
Thread 'Hitching up a trailer using the reverse camera'
With the rear camera sitting off centre under the spare, how does it affect lining up the towball and coupling when reversing. My hitch is a pin type arrangement not a towball so not a lot of tolerance when lining it up. Snapshot below of the screen from a recent YT video. Looks like it could be a real pain being offset like that.
Could someone please measure 2 dimensions for me? 1) Distance from the top of the ball of trailer hitch and the bottom of the large rear door. 2) Distance ball of trailer hitch to vertical edge of large door when door edge is aligned with trailer hitch I need this measurement for my caravan project. I would like to know if the large rear door still opens when the trailer is cranked.
Thread 'Dropping tow bar height'
INEOS tow ball height 520mm from ground. My caravans ALKO chassis runs best at 430mm. So little information out there so I made my own decision and fitted myself. Now at 440mm.
Thread 'North America class III tow hitch receiver'
I noticed in a picture that one of the North American production vehicles landed at port of Georgia had a UK-style hitch receiver. I have not seen any late model us-spec vehicles with a 2” receiver that also has a face plate for bolt-on applications here in the states. I guess this is a plus? More flexibility? I sure hope these come with a standard 7-way electrics with electric trailer brake pre-wire. I guess we will see shortly when the dealer vehicles arrive next week.
Thread 'Nato hitch and rear number plate'
Hi I wish to attach the same setup as this picture to my Grenadier. I have this setup on two old defenders I already own. The problem is that for the Nato hitch to be at the correct height for the military trailer I own the Dixon Bate bracket needs to be mounted up high and as a result will obscure the number plate. I know there might be brackets for the square receiver but I already have a spare Dixon Bate setup and wish to use that. It will require the number plate and light to be...
