From what I understand, the B58 (gasoline/petrol engine) in the Grenadier comes with a Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF), also known as a Petrol Particulate Filter (PPF). It is a filter in the exhaust system like the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) that comes in all modern diesels. Has anyone owned a vehicle with a GPF? What has been your experience? Did you have any problems? Thanks in advance.
Thread 'Land Rover Ad Blue WTF???'
Sitting in my Land Rover Service waiting room waiting for my vehicle. And saw this sign.!!!!
Thread 'Fuel Tank - I found a clip...'
Seems the LR legacy strikes again. Off the production line there would always be a spare rivet or two and plenty of swarf. If you were really lucky then a single nut, which you'd wonder whether it was a spare or something hadn't been fastened up... I was checking out the fuel tank guard and inside the rear right hand side: I found this: So the questions are: What is it off? Is it a spare?
In addition to searching forums (where most discussions seem to end with various forms or 'self protection', ending in either a flamethrower or a mote) I've watched a number of YT videos and browsed Ineos videos looking for info about location of the catalytic converter. Specifically, what sort of shielding might be available, at least as some sort of deterrent against theft or will be left to end user/3rd parties?
Thread 'Filler neck on diesel'
It looks like the inner filler neck on the diesel doesn't suit a high flow pump nozzle. Can anyone confirm? In Oz, some of the more remote unmanned fuel depots can be high flow only - they're setup for heavy transports. My current vehicle is like this and I need to use this funnel, which isnt ideal.
Thread 'Rear fuel filter on diesel – Australian spec INEOS'
This is a picture of the rear fuel filter on the INEOS Australian spec diesel motor. EDIT: the diesel fuel water separator is standard in some countries and optional in others. When choosing a diesel motor if the option costs $0 dollars it is standard, if you have to pay it is optional. A little smaller than a Prevent 200 oil catch can (size comparison only). The type of plastic used was very similar to the material used in the Provent 200 Oil Catch Can. The fuel in line and fuel out line...
Dear all, I've just noticed that you can order now a diesel water separator during the configuration (under the engine selection as extra) PS: this is the case at least for the German configuration
Thread 'Water Separator Option'
Surprised to see this option appear. If it's a problem I would have thought it would have been standard fit!
Has anyone else noticed how intrusive the regeneration process is on the diesel model? I have noticed that the car seems to perform a regen every 4/500 miles and the fans become so loud that it sounds like a road sweeper going past! Engine temperature goes up to 102-ish and like I say the fans are embarrassingly loud. I have had to lengthen two journeys now to allow the car time to complete its cycle. I have never noticed this before with Euro 5 or Euro 6 diesels. Adblue remaining range...
I wonder if anyone has looked into doing an LPG conversion of the Grenadier yet? Prins Autogas talks about B58 conversion unit but the website info seems to be outdated: https://www.prinsautogas.com/en/news/update-di-list-new-vsi-3-di-applications-available They do seem to have a working prototype at least: https://www.prinsautogas.com/en/news/bmw-m340i-lpg-video-tour-about-lpg-system-powerhouse-375hp I have a gasoline Grenadier on order and would love to find a way to increase range and...
Thread 'Unable to insert filling spout - panic!'
Hi - I have just tried to fill my new Grenadier for the first time but cannot insert the spout due to a metal "door" closing off the hole. Using a standard nozzle (not hi-flow) which fits nicely into the rubber sleeve at the entrance but the "door" stops the nozzle going further than 20mm. The sales agent does not know what is happening and has gone home, presumably without looking at the pic I emailed. I have an early start tomorrow - and an empty fuel tank - any help would be appreciated.
I have seen a few people say they have had to top up at relatively low kms. I checked my level and it said 60% needs 7 litres. So I put exactly 7 litres in and it said 100% so firstly good to know that the guage is accurate. But I have only done about 1400kms so I would hope that it isn’t using 7 litres every 1400 kms that would mean you need to fill up every 4000kms or so which is well above normal. My strong suspicion is that they do a short fill at the factory or PDI. Time will tell...
Let's assume the engine has stopped. Tank is dry. Not a drop of diesel left inside. (Although the fuel gauge told you something else.) Had happen to me before. Thanks i always carry a spare canister with me. What is the correct procedure on the Grenadier after running out of diesel? 1) looking stupid 2) refuelling with your good old spare canister 3) and then? Do i have to vent the engine somehow?
Haven’t had an AdBlue diesel before so no ability for personal comparison. But from the reading I had done I was expecting a lot less consumption. I filled the tank to full at 1300km it had now done about 7300km and just had to put 11 litres in. So thats about 1.5 litres per 1000km. Car was heavily loaded but not towing.
Hi someone try to run E85 ( Ethanol ) on petrol engine
I've filled up my tank 5 or 6 times but yesterday after filling up the check engine light came on. My dealer, Elliot Bay, informed me this has happened to a couple people when overfilling the gas tank. I did not overfill it, just let the gas pump shut off automatically. The code is P0461, which is for the fuel level sensor circuit. I was able to get the fault cleared at O'Reilly's since the dealer is over an hour away. I also noticed that when the check engine light is on the cruse control...
Thread 'B58 petrol fuel economy'
I thought I might share with you the fuel economy figures of the last 8000kms (now at almost 10k) Pls see the excel pic. atrached. …..would love to have an auxiliary fuel tank!!!
I've seen the one video from Miltek. Has anyone installed theirs yet? Wondering how the sound was. Any other companies offering exhaust yet?
The Grenadier manual only refers to EN590 conform Diesel but I read that BMW has approved new and legacy engines (manufactured from March 2020) for the co2 neutral EN15940 paraffin fuel. Anyone know if this applies to Grenadier variants or not?
Thread 'Check engine P0461'
Has anyone had this code come up? The guy at autozone said I should be good to drive, but the fuel gauge may not be accurate. Hoping I can get the dealer to look/clear it next week and hopefully install the hitch at the same time.
