hi! Looking inside the bonnet I noticed that the intercooler pipes are connected with quick release clips and not with traditional clamps as I was used to on the TD5 defender. they seem to have a lot of slack and they don't give me the impression of being airtight. Is this a connection system that is also used on other 4x4 vehicles? View: https://youtube.com/shorts/ySaXgozzIjM?feature=share thanks
Thread 'Coolant hose ~ damage / holed'
Might be linked to @Jean Mercier's post, as hose looks to be in a similar area: https://www.theineosforum.com/threads/update-prior-to-sale-coolant-hose-clip-%E2%80%93-remove.12411918/
Just returned from a 10km trip to fuel and post office and the fan did not switch off. It is the first time it has done this... Very loud, like a particularly noisy workshop vacuum, but after about 5 minutes it decided to switch off by itself. What's going on and what should I do about it? Is it anything really serious? Thanks for your help
Hi, A new warning light has come up for me. I have a diesel 5 door N1, an early one ie one of the first 1,000 customer vehicles. Has anybody else had the warning on the central dash "Pre heater active" showing in orange? It came on just after I started car and then intermittently flashed up as I drove it. The car drove fine there were no obvious issues beyond the warning. It was not a particularly cold day (I am in Southern UK and I have started the car without the warning on colder...
What causes the gurgeling sound behind the dash? Is it the aircon fluid? It sounds like there is air in the system to me. Am i right with my assumption that the air-condition is missing fluid?
I see many posts on routing of hoses. Plus failures and lack of clips Would an aftermarket SILICONE HOSE kit, such as these be beneficial? http://classicsiliconehoses.uk/our-products/ I had an MG ZT260 and fitted them, eliminating hose failures on this car.
Thread 'B58 Overheat at Highway (Motorway) Speed'
Wondering anyone encountered this issue, and what was your resolution? Truck currently with the dealer. Milage = apx 9000 miles. Coolant level - normal. Off-road vehicle - yes and wash all radiators after each outing.
Thread 'Engine Block heaters for Alaska, Norway, Sweden, etc'
Hi, Has anyone installed a suitable frost plug engine block heater for the B58 engine? I am concerned about reducing cold start engine wear. If you found one, what model did you use, what wattage is appropriate, how easy was it to install, etc. Something like this is what I had in mind:
Thread 'Coolant hose protection from chafing'
After getting to know my Grenadier a bit more and inspecting in the engine compartment (petrol version), I’ve noticed a few coolant hoses run very close to sharp edges or other components which over time with vibration and heat expansion could cause a hose to chafe and leak. I’ve also noticed hose routings in some parts of the engine compartment, especially between main radiator fan shroud and engine front face have a bit of a prototype look to them and are being held in place by what look...
Thread 'Radiator Corrosion'
Anyone else seeing this corrosion on their radiator? Other side looks completely clean. It's definitely a slow leak, but not something I want my 6mo vehicle to have.
Ok gang, has anyone torn one of these down to the heater core area? Or have an idea of the line work to the heater core. After 3 months at the dealership I get my truck back only to have coolant smell and mist/liquid coming out of lower vents. I need to figure out a way to cut off coolant to the air box or I’m going to poison myself, and since it’s my only winter vehicle I’m in need of wheels until the dealership figures out how to resolve this yet again.
So I am putting together a “roadside” kit with a belt, water pump, etc and I am trying to see if anyone can confirm the crossover parts number for BMW and Toyota. I am pretty sure the B58 in the IG is the Gen 2 version B58B30 that is also used in the Supra. I called BMW and they want $330 for the water pump, but the list on the Toyota part is $190 and I get a discount at Toyota so closer to $160. I have not priced the INEOS part and I will but if I need a water pump it would be nice to be...
Thread 'Loose parts (hoses ) - design or failure ?'
Hi is it normal that these hoses are hanging so loose in the engine compartment? I can move everything back and forth and can also see a clip behind it. But the gap is too big, I can't clip the hoses in. 2023 Grenadier petrol engine Can someone have a look at their car. I am currently on the Costa Rei (Sardinia) and there is no reference vehicle here. Greetings wueste
A few seconds after starting my Grenadier, with the B58 petrol engine, the main engine cooling fan comes on at full speed regardless of the engine temperature. It then stays on until the engine is turned off. It does not run when then engine is not running. Very occasionaly, the fan will not come on for some time, ie after the engine has warmed up. It was looked at by an Ineos dealership (based outside Birmingham, England), but they couldn't work out what was wrong. I cannot see how this...
Can anybody shed some light on where in the dpf burn cycle the fans are activated? Do they go on after the burn is complete, or are they on for the whole process? Generally if they go off and I’m nearly at my destination, I will drive a little longer till the whole thing is finished. It’s not always possible, and would like to know if I’m wasting my time doing this as the actual burn maybe over?
I have a diesel Grenadier that takes forever for the heating to warm up. At its last service it had the same problem and the dealer sorted the issue. Anyone know the procedure to resolve what may be an air lock? Thanks for your help! Richard
I am curious if the B58 downpipe I bought for my 2 series would fit my Grenadier. Any knowledge would be helpful.
Hi All I just had a discussion with an Ineos customer services agent who was confirming my spec before sending the contract to sign. The PDF with my spec has the fuel consumption figures on page 6. Until today the spec had quoted the WLPT combined figure at 11.6 l/100km. After adding the utility belt and some floor mats the figure is now 19.2 l/100km! Ouch. I was taken aback and asked them to confirm there hadn't been a misprint but here's the response... I do have raised air intake...
Thread 'ADblue consommation'
Bonjour, Avez-vous une idée de la consommation de liquide ADBLUE sur un moteur comme le B57 BMW 3 litres ? Le réservoir contient 17 litres sur le Grenadier Merci de votre retour.
I wonder : Does the Diesel have a DPF and where is it located ? If yes is the burn out manual and if not can the automatic DPF burn be stopped or delayed ?
