Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this... My Trialmaster has done ~4500 miles with no offroading, except for a centre diff usage in the snow for short periods. I was driving on the road turning left around 30mph to find my front diff went with a bang and now grinding on deceleration. My local agent has confirmed the diff has failed and possibly due to it not having enough or any oil in it. New diff on order Very disappointed to find this bulletproof vehicle failed on a part that...
At the weekend I was out and about in an off-road area. I was driving in 3rd gear (manual transmission) in off-road reduction. The Grenadier had to work hard to drive up a steep slope. Suddenly, the automatic gearbox jumped from 3rd gear to neutral in the middle of the drive. The car stopped, of course. I was able to engage reverse gear and drive back. This phenomenon was repeated several times that weekend. Have any of you experienced this?
Just curious, what are the normal temperature range for gearbox and T-case since we can see them from the infotainment screen under off-road section?
Hello All, Mike and Liz from Naples FL / TN. We just received our truck yesterday and other then its beauty , not much to say yet. But I do have one question that the answers and 'sales pitch' are completly different. Can this be safely towed as a toter behind our RV. But well get to it. If anyone is in SWFLA and meets up let us know were happy to have new friends were a jeep family
I took my Grenadier to fishing camp 2 weeks ago, The camp is on a dirt road and you have to drive through a creek (shin deep ) a couple times, In the process of driving on dirt road, a stick (as thick as your pointer finger) managed to poke a hole a the transmission dish (according to the service manager) Does this sound correct? I'm kinda at a loss of words. Has anyone had any issues with the transmission dish?
Hi all! Have my Grenadier for 4 weeks now and 1700km on the clock. Today, standing at the traffic lights, Gear in "D", the whole cabin started to vibrate. It feels like the Gear wants to build up torque and loses connection immediately (frequency anywhere at the engines rpm). Vibration stops instantly when touching the gas pedal just slightly and speeding up the engine a little bit. After restarting the engine, it is mostly gone but returns after a couple of seconds. Anybody else...
Hey all, I am having a really tough time with this transfer case. I read and re-read the instructions and watched Ineos’ own tutorial online… my transfer case does absolutely not work as described. I have plenty of past experience with manual shifting - 5th gen 4Runner, 3rd Gen 4Runner and Jeeps all with manual shift levers. This weekend we took the truck to Tahoe. A few nice off road trails - nothing wild but some good rock and dust - an opportunity to get familiar with the truck. I...
Owl outdoors posted a video on how to change shifters.....looks fairly straightforward but you have to very careful with the cable tape. View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOPxAzcPjNc&t=616s
Is anyone here an expert in sorting out vibrations? I have the base model diesel and at around 8000 kms, a mild vibration, which I can feel up through e.g. the seat, steering wheel, handbrake, developed during acceleration which I can feel on smooth roads in the 1800-2100 rpm range. It's not there when I rev while stationary. I've been underneath a few times to look for something loose but other than flimsy heat shields, nothing untoward. It seems a bit harsher than a heat shield buzzing but...
Engaged the neutral bolt in anticipation of a tow(more about that later. Anyway it looks like I engaged it without having the transfer case in neutral. Once I backed out and put everything back in the proper position, the gear box will not go into forward or reverse. I have gone back through the proper process at least six more times. Anyone have any ideas on a fix? I'm about 6 hours from the dealer right now.
reposting in the S.O.S. section as suggested by Jean Mercier. Engaged the neutral bolt in anticipation of a tow(more about that later). Hi, I am wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction (possibly a training video) on how to use the front and rear diff locks. Not that I need them right away as I have not even had the vehicle off-road yet (I would just like to know if they are working as they did not at the dealer. The person in charge of showing me everything on the vehicle (and 2 others) at Knauz Grenadier in Lake Bluff IL at the dealer did not know how to engage them, they tried to tell me while I was...
Does anyone else notice the transmission acting like the tq converter is locking up? the 3-2-1 when decelerating is holding the gears like in tow/haul mode on my f350 diesel. Actually all the time, but it's really noticeable when I'm below 15mph and slowing. It really slows the car down and when it downshifts the release is one perceives the car to accelerating slightly until it hits the next gear. Coming to a stop smoothly is difficult, as modulating the appropriate braking force isn't...
Thread 'T-Case Leak and Potential Transmission Leak?'
Looks like I’m now part of the leaky seal club. 1. Assuming front shaft seal at the transfer case, 2.) at the engine and transmission gasket? Noticed the spots appearing on my driveway. Never was fortunate enough to own a LR, but I’m certain this is how it feels :p I have the call into RDS and sent them photos to see what their thoughts are. 4.5hr drive to the dealer for me. I’ll keep this updated as I know more. Edit to note: ODO is currently at approx. 11,000 miles.
Thread 'Transmission Malfunction and limp mode'
Got in this morning, put in reverse, engine stalled and shut off. Started again and got the 2 warning lights on dash and message in message center. Now in Limp Mode. I searched and didnt find anything. Looking undernearth, looks like transfer case has a small leak. It drives around 6 mph in limp mode, no noises. I guess Ill have it towed to the dealer. 2024 Trialmaster, 9500 miles, B58 Gas engine., USA.
Diesel FM. 10 months old 3000 miles. Very gentle road use apart from 300 miles towing 2 tonne boat. Not used any of the diff locks yet. Some low range work maneuvering trailer. Started to hear a whine from low down. Probably transfer case or diffs as it is road speed related. Sound is like high speed gear meshing (sounds like a screw compressor to me). Started very faint and thought I was being over sensitive but now more noticeable and does not sound right or healthy. Takes about 5...
Thread 'Supra Shifter installed'
Instructions here: View: https://youtu.be/BOPxAzcPjNc Be VERY CAREFUL when pulling out the shifter knob! Damage to the ribbon is very likely, costly, and will render the car unmovable!
Thread 'Differential Pinion seals weeping?'
I was doing routine inspection at 7k miles yesterday and noticed that both front and rear pinion seals at the differential seem to be weeping / sweating a little. No oil on the ground and discoloration around the seal is somewhat minor. Is this normal?
Thread 'Not an Ineos axle breakage. What would you do in a similar situation?'
These pictures are from a FB feed from 4WD TV in Australia. https://www.4wdtv.com.au/ This crew does some difficult four-wheel driving in a live axle Iveco Daily 4x4 truck and produce videos and travel shows for commercial tv stations. Iveco Daily has the larger version of the Carraro axle with mechanical diff locks and are very close in design to the axles used in Grenadier and Quartermaster. The photos are for general interest and research, to illustrate the construction of the axle...
Does anyone have a diagram or a link to a diagram of the props / diffs showing the breakdown of parts . Thx
