Anyone familiar with both the IG chosen Carraro axle AND Dana axles common in the United States? I'm not going for a "which one is better"... I'm just trying to figure out if this Carraro axle is liken to a Dana 30, 44, 60 etc., since I'm only familiar with them, and know nothing whatsoever about the Carraro axle chosen for the IG build. The point being to see what tire sizes, torque limits, and overall ruggedness.  What I keep hearing is that Carraro makes rugged stuff for tractors in...
Anyone know if you can flat tow the IG?
Carraro  is well known for their axles for tractors and earth-moving equipment , including those with portal axles. However, this brochure from Carrara indicates that they also make portal axles for on-highway use. Do you think we might, someday, see portal axles on the Grenadier? It could solve the problems (with trade offs) for those who are looking for higher ground clearance and larger tires.  ...
We still don't know the gear ratio in the ring & pinion set. According to an article in Tread, it might be 4.10 https://www.treadmagazine.com/vehicles/ineos-grenadier-a-closer-look-its-not-a-land-rover/
I see the buttons for the front and rear diff lock, but the center? Is the high/low lever actually not just 2 position, but 4 position- Hi/center lock, low/center lock, just low, just high?
My wife has an X5 and I’m not totally hip on the shifter that looks like the Same one as in the IG. I was surprised, given the rigged 4x4 application, that they didn’t get something more purpose driven? Also, it totally looks out of place next to the center diff control… I know I’ll get used to it, but I find it rather non-intuitive…. Whenever I drive her car, I’m never quite sure that I actually have it in park..
Is there any information about whether the ZF gearbox offers a "sailing mode"? i.e.: when I take my foot off the accelerator the transmission decouples completely from the drivetrain to let the car roll with the engine at idle ? I often do this manually and set the selector lever to 'N' when I'm driving down a long incline or there's a red light a bit ahead. It saves fuel noticeably. According to the manual, you should not do this, but it works fine now for 300000 km.
So there's some stuff posted on the front and rear differentials, but what about the centre differential? Have Ineos got a bespoke one, third party supplier or rolled along with the ZF one? The only reference with ZF I've read suggests that they were/are using a unit from Torsen. Do Torsen make anything manually lockable? Anyone know anything more?
Thread 'Carraro Academy face-to-face training'
From LinkedIn: "After a long wait, we are so excited to get finally back with our Carraro Academy face-to-face training! 🚙 On Friday 30 September we had the pleasure of hosting the INEOS Automotive technical team at our production plant in Maniago for a training session on axles for the Grenadier off-road vehicle. The Carraro Academy training program for our customers is an indispensable element for Carraro to supply a product that is increasingly qualified and suited to the needs of the...
Does anyone know how the locking differential works? Is it operated with compressed air? If so, may be it it possible also use the compressor for the inflation of the tires?
Thread 'BMW Shifter Repair Kit Part Number'
Hi, just posting a LHD placeholder post for the trim repair kit (gear shift itself is specific to the 7 series, but the repair kit applies to several models including the 7 series). 61316817624 (with ceramic applique) 61316817622 (without) I tried to see the upgraded look with the ceramic and can't seem to find a good picture of it yet and will update the post when I find it. All I could possibly tell is the shifter inlay with the gear indicators is possibly nicer. Regardless, just...
Thread 'Suppliers ~ Cofle ~ Transfer case control linkage'
Cofle were named in the Supplier Bulletin for "shift lever and cables", so just a little more confirmation from the supplier itself who makes reference to "reduced gear arming and off-engagement systems and differential lock and release". And a link to the article referenced: https://www.repubblica.it/motori/sezioni/prodotto/2022/12/14/news/ineos_grenadier_4x4_ratcliffe_gavioli_intervista-379070123/
I believe the E-locker in the Grenadier is from Eaton South Korea, is there any difference between this and the Harrop E-locker which is based on the Eaton? Is the Harrop just an Australian made version of exactly the same design or is it different / improved / better?
There have been reports and discussions about the e-lockers not always engaging as expected and desired. The problem seems to be that the wheel sensors are not sufficient to detect different wheel spin speeds to activate the e-lockers - if I understand correctly. BUT: When I am off-roading and the differentials need to be locked, it is usually because the wheels are doing just that: spinning at different speeds. So I'm wondering: why would I need to take a turn or drive a tight circle to...
If your battery is dead and you need Neutral for a tow or a roll or whatever, sounds like a 5mm hex socket and access underneath the truck is required. With the Grenadier's clearance (compared to any other ZF vehicle), hopefully this doesn't mean jacking it up. It's such a common transmission that details are around the internet, but here's one article: How To Put The ZF 8-Speed In Neutral Using The Neutral Safety Switch Bypass
Thread 'Gear Shifter Aftermarket - Options?'
So, looking at the BMW-ZF gear shifter, and aside from the RHD footrest: - is the Shifter something we can actually change. In the PT version, this thing looks about as out of place as t*ts on a bull. It works but doesn't suit the vehicle aesthetics at all, and I'm the type to spend money on this kind of change if possible. Anyone seen alternatives, and is it feasible for this unit? I have a valid reason: when using this thing, it felt clunky, felts odd in the hand as the angles don't work...

The concept of the IG was that it would be simple and unbreakable. Why then have they chosen complex electronic controls for the axle diff locks rather than levers as in the early G-Wagen?. These were simple and bomb proof. Axels frequently covered in mud, dust, water, snow etc. are not friendly places for electrics.
Hi, I know well the land drive shafts with cardon joint and greaseable crosses. Those of the Ineos looks different. They looks homocynetic. Are they greaseable? With the automatic gearbox, how can you put the vehicle in neutral to make them turn? Thanks.
Thread 'Tremec - Transfer Case'
Well there's various bits and bobs buried in other threads about the transfer case: https://www.theineosforum.com/search/18108/?q=transfer+case&o=relevance https://www.theineosforum.com/search/18109/?q=tremec&o=relevance but I thought I'd start one dedicated to it with a few photos, starting with the id plate located on the upper right side (not the best photo but is just about legible): I wonder if anyone who's had issues with theirs and certainly those known to have had a replacement...
