Question is how long does it take for diff lock lights to stop flashing after disengaged?
We just picked up our Grenadier yesterday, drove home and wanted to go out for an icecream. Gear won’t shift, error message: Gear box error. Car won’ t budge. While we are waiting for the service car to stop by, anyone has had the same experience??
Thread 'Tremec Transfer Case breather'
So @Clark Kent posted a great photo on another thread: Post in thread 'Diff breathers' https://www.theineosforum.com/threads/diff-breathers.12368697/post-1333205454 "This could be the transfer case breather. Front face of the transfer case up the top. Viewable from the left side of the vehicle looking up and rearwards. Hose goes forward along the top of the transmission then up between the firewall and the back of the engine. Can't follow it to see where it terminates." So I thought I'd...
I have a new vehicle (5 days) and have not yet managed to get to low range. Vehicle stopped, transmission in neutral, foot on brake, lift collar on low range shifter, and it just will not go into low range. Getting into diff lock is fine and smooth. Can't imagine what I am doing wrong...
I have had my Fieldmaster for 4 weeks now, 2000 miles. Each time I have gone into our woodland or fields the Grenadier has struggled compared to my Land Cruiser or Defenders. The diff locks are very difficult to engage and even harder to disengage. I have tried and failed now three times and simply return to our other vehicles. Finally this morning with plenty of time I took the Grenadier out onto some wet ground. I engaged off-road mode, changed to low range and engaged centre diff. I...
I am unable to put centre diff in Low and engaged, lever will not let me, it will go into high. I have previously had to turn engine and electrics oft disengage high All suggestions and solutions appreciated
On occasion I get a strange rattle sound when the transmission is shifting down. Sometimes the rattle even continues after shifting down and continues for a while... I managed to take a video last time. it does not occur every time. hard to say what is the trigger... Anyone else had this, too? Video Link
known problem? Apparently the ring for unlocking/raising on my shift lever for the intermediate gearbox doesn't work. Neither the gear reduction nor the central lock can be engaged - even with a lot of force. Anyone have an idea? I did this on test vehicles, where the ring had a resistance/function and the gears were difficult to engage.
Thread 'Rear diff lock button faulty'
Hi Guys, we got stuck in Greece on the beach. Luckily we got out but the rear difflock won’t disengage. There is an error saying “Button of the rear difflock is defect” The rear difflock warning light is flashing red. The button is also flashing (orange) I don’t think it’s safe to drive on-road now. Any suggestions what I can do to disengage the rear difflock?
Has anyone whose vehicles are affected by the recall on the transfer case had theirs replaced yet? Mine was booked into Compass Automotive of Bridgewater (UK) yesterday. Five hours later, and all was done, test driven and signed off. I watched the technician doing some of the work, and he was really slick at his job. I asked how many had been done so far. 13! I guess that’s why he made it look so easy! Nice work, Compass.
Thread 'Transfer Case Technical Discussion'
As the US deliveries are starting to happen and my order is getting closer to production I wanted to start a discussion around the Grens transfercase and its design. I have seen some videos from Ineos and threads about the gearing but not diagrams of how the transfercase actually works. From what Ineos has shared this is a gear to gear transfer case with helical cut gears as you would expect from the modern era. I did not notice any gear whine on my test drive like I usually notice in most...
Hi All, I'm a new owner, picked up my car from Scotland last week, driving it 500 miles home. It's a virtually new car, I doubled the mileage on it. I got round to trying out the low range and centre diff lock settings for the first time today. I found the shift selector stiff (I had read about that so kept trying) and got it to change from Low to High after a bit of a wrestle. However, there seems to be some problem where regardless of the position of the shift lever it remained 'stuck'...
Hello all! I have a Trialmaster with less than 1000 miles on it. I've been experiencing a strong oil / diff fluid smell through the cabin vents whenever I come to a stop. The smell becomes somewhat more intense after the vehicle is warmed up and dissipates quickly as soon as I drive off. It's very strange, but the smell is almost non-existent outside the vehicle. I've found if I turn off the cabin fan as I approach a stop, I don't get the smell in the cabin. Also, I've thoroughly...
Thread 'Transfer Case Gear Lever - pin'
Wondering if anyone else has/is encountering an issue where a very small metal pin (I’ll call it a pin), is sticking out of their transfer case lever near the top around the ball? The pin appears to not only hold the gear boot up the top of the lever but also plays a significant part in the functioning of the gear lever and its ability to select low range etc. How do I know this? I found it striking out and had a look at it, it then promptly fell out onto the floor and I could no longer use...
Lets see what size tube those front and rear axles are on your Gren. Interested to see if their is a difference between the locked and non locked versions. For example my rear axle in my Xterra is roughly 3" or 76mm.
Thread 'Front drive shaft broken'
Hi all, so my front drive shaft came off today done nearly 14000 km. Wasn't doing anything outrageous, just happened to be taking off (slowly while towing) when there was a loud bang and then I couldn't drive forward or reverse without locking the centre diff. The front drive shaft has come away at the rear end of the shaft. Will let you know what happens with the repairs. Edit 1. For those who are mechanically-minded (not me) the circlip is still intact, there is some damage to the...
Third off-road events people have observed single wheel spin per axle. Setup>> Off-road mode engaged. Transfer at 4 Low Lock. F & R diff locks lights are solid over head and shown diff were locked on the dash. Truck was air down to 25psi. When I was trying to climb out of a situation... (Mud, Ice, Mud & Ice, Mud & Rock, Ice & Rock) folks around me observed single wheel spin with Left Front & Rear Rear wheels. When the lockers are working (like climbing hill covered in ice & snow &...
As a resident of the driest inhabited continent on this blue marble we live on (Antarctica is the driest, bit of trivia), my experience with river crossings is limited to short distances that aren’t really technical (south of the tropics resident here). What are peoples views and experiences on using diff locks with rivers crossings? Specifically river beds that are commonly pebble to large pebble. I’ve got the front and rear diff locks on my vehicle.
Hi all. In need of some help. Stuck in Tangier with a cracked sump pan to the gearbox. Having spotted it this morning i managed to arrange a flat bed to give us a lift to Tangier. I neutralised the gear box screw and selected neutral to get on the flat bed. Now i have got to Tangier after a hot 7 hour journey the box will not allow me to select N for more than a second before going back to P. The vehicle is now stuck on. The flat bed and cant get it off. Has anyone got any ideas. My thoughts...
I took mine for a short bumpy ride. Attached recording of the sound. Brought back the car to the dealer to fix the issue. The culprit are some underside cable holders that got loose in the process of going over bumps, and the holders(and cables, probably) were now being scraped by the front shaft. Fix is in progress (new clips or zip ties :))
