Has anyone found out how to remove the dpf and egr from the B57 diesel engine? BMW has been producing them for several years now and I think it's a now approved modification. thanks
How many miles per tank on the highway are you getting?
Ok guys, I wanted to share my recent challenges with my Grenadier. Not to complain but to inform and seek out any similar problems. I bought my 2024 Grenadier in February. Due to travel, I only drove it 400 miles the first two months. A month ago, while driving on a very busy residential street, the car died and check engine light came on. I was stuck in the street….so I tried to get it going. Long story short, it would not run. So, I had it towed up to the Dallas/Plano dealership. The...
Thread 'BB58 additional Fuel filter Is this it?'
Is this. the additional fuel filter It looks the same on either engine variant B57/58 Ineos said that this is it but looks no different??????????? Any Ideas
Thread 'B57 Trying to run out of fuel - first try, unsuccessful'
Hello everyone, I prepared myself mentally and logistically to run out of fuel, to be able to check several things: - How does the IG behaves when out of fuel, early signs, if there are any. - What is the real capacity of the fuel system. - How easy it is to get it back on track. This first try was on a road I drive twice a week, late evening, close to midnight. The usual trip is ~83Km and 1h15m, mostly rural with a few roundabouts and intersections. My usual average fuel consumption on...
My car been at dealers all week this week for warranty work.Air con not worked since new 12months now and few other things.Engine light came on week ago showing amber not red but no faults logged in display.Garage has diagnosed egr valve faulty.New valve on order should only be few days.
hi guys, has anyone taken a closer look at the turbochargers on diesel engines? Which manufacturer, etc.? Unfortunately, Ineos does not provide any details about the B57 installed...
Hi brains trust, Is there an indicator light on the dash warning screen that a DPF is in progress? Don't have my Quartermaster yet, but do a lot of bush driving in long dry grass, and don't want to start a fire. Cheers, Ken
When I return home after a drive, I have an about a 4 or 5 mile uphill drive and a gain in altitude of 1,400 ft. The steepest part is the last mile home. The B58 gas engine is warm when I get home and it goes through some kind of cooling off period after I have turned it off. To maximize engine life, should I allow it to idle for a minute or two to cool down after arriving or is it ok to just turn it off immediately?
Thread 'My mistake, knowledge needed to remove the fuel sender'
Hi, I went the easy, lazy way of installing an air heater diesel pickup line in the fuel tank without dropping the tank. All good, I managed to make the required 16mm hole in the fuel sender, but when trying to fit the pipe I dropped it into the tank  In the past 16 hours I tried to pick it up using various claw/magnet methods, but unsuccessful. The thing is, I am 300Km away from home, in an underground garage, and I need to leave. I've covered the hole with a wine cork, I assume it's...
I need some advice in order to prepare my EU spec Diesel Grenadier MY23 for a long overland journey through some countries were somewhat bad Diesel fuel quality is available only. What I know so far, in some countries (Kenya, NAM, SA) the Diesel is already equipped with an additional Diesel water separator filter from the factory, also without AdBlue and I guess some other parts are different to an EU specced Diesel. I also expect that the engine control software is different as well for...
Does anyone have enough miles on a Grenadier in colder climates or any B58 on another vehicle to have any experience with carbon buildup? Is this going to be a problem for us? I understand that at least one Toyota engine has two injectors, on for DGI and another just upstream of the intake valve. They alternate injections between the two to provide some cleaning on the intake valve to reduce carbon buildup. Do our B58s have that feature?
Has anyone removed the rear muffler and heard the truck? I'm just kinda curious as there's a bit of space there I'd like to utilize for a rear winch. Maybe remove that and enlarge the pre muffler.
Thread 'Sudden wastegate (?) rattle?'
Hi all, wondering if anyone (maybe with BMW experience) has seen this before. My grenadier has developed a very loud rattle with the engine off and the ignition in “accessory”. It’s worse with the engine cold/cool and doesn’t do it 100% of the time. I’ve had a dig through the B57 (diesel) manual and a bit of a poke around and it looks like the turbo wastegate actuator is jumping back and forth by itself. Again, this is without the engine running - video and photos below. I’ll be taking to...
Just got the truck back from service. 5,000 mile oil change and first service. I know it is not due until 10,000 but I'm an overachiever and old school. 5,000 miles and all mine get an oil change. Anywho, been a week maybe two since getting it back. Filled up the tank and the engine light comes on. Immediately, I'm thinking I must not have tightened the gas cap. No dice. I get out the trusty OBD tool and it is throwing the error code P6401, I cannot find any detail related to this...
Thread 'Changing air filter and waterproofing (Diesel)'
I changed the air filter today as it wasn’t in stock when I changed the oil. I took a few pics so that you can see what’s under there. I also had a look at the intake to see how water tight it was. (Not very). I am not intending to wade with the car above the bonnet but I wanted to see where any potential water ingress points were.. The filter cover is pretty easy to remove, just some large pozi screws, a hose clamp on the intake and the wire for the MAF sensor. The old filter had an extra...
Hey guys, Going to buy a trialmaster SW from Hedin Sweden. They offer to install everything needed for E85, for 35 000 SEK (~3000€). This voids the yearly tax malus of approx the same amount. I have just asked Ineos through the customer support and they said that since Hedin is an authorized Ineos retailer, this do not voids the warranty. - Anyone here experience the modification from Hedin and can do a feedback about it? - Anyone here can explain if they only remap or if they install the...
I don’t know if this is normal, or if my vehicle had always behaved like this, or if this is a recent change in behavior. I have definitely noticed it more in recent weeks. It relates the audible and prevalent turbo flutter sound. Vehicle has 2000 miles on it. Symptom: With the radio off. While I am driving on neighborhood streets - less than 20mph. If I accelerate gently (rpm under 2k) then let off the accelerator completely, there would be a very notable turbo flutter (a throaty whoosh)...
Does anyone have Amazon links for the engine and cabin air filter? I'm seeing 24k miles in the manual, seems like a long time but I grew up farming. Cabin air filter isn't listed in the manual that I can find. How often are you replacing them and do you have links for them?
