I have been looking for a proper 'snorkel' type design air intake to replace the OEM RAI, which an improvement over nothing, is not really fitting for my needs. Considering the poor fortune @Jeremy996 suffered recently it has got me searching again. Apart from @GrenX fantastic looking design perhaps there is something similar closer to hand to consider? Having said that if any other members here in the UK are keen on clubbing together for a group buy from Oz then perhaps we can make the...
Fuel Level Plausibility code P193208 This code gets triggered when I refuel. I have NOT been topping off the gas tank. What has anyone heard about this issue? What kind of code scanner has everyone been purchasing? I what to reset myself. Going to the dealer each time is not a viable option. Please advise. Thanks to all.
oil catch can or air oil separater for gas engine. Doesn't give any more hp but keeps you from losing what you have. have them on my tacoma and jeep rubicon. they sit between your pvc valve and where it dumps back into the intake. It is an oily mist that degrades your gasoline rating. On a turbo engine which has higher crankcase pressures it is even more of a problem. I have sure there are some kits around for the BMW sports cars since the go fast crowd doesn't want to lose any HP. So...
My Petrol Grenadier has an engine hesitation, worse at 55/75mph but does it in any gear from 30 mph . Maybe in a mile it will hesitate 2times , make it feel like it’s running out of fuel for a nano second . Ineos have had tech out all week , run live data , checked the purge on the charcoal canister , if it’s accelerating it’s fine , it’s as you come off the throttle to cruise. No fail codes no lights . They have reset everything including the variable timing.. Has anyone had this issue...
Thread 'Petrol engine (MAF sensor?)'
Hi all, I was hoping that somebody can help me with information about this part highlighted in green. I think it's a MAF sensor ? I would like to find the parts number and in any way possible, a picture of the sensor unplugged so that I can see what kind of connection type we talk about. I have a suspicion it's the Bosch part (see picture) but I'm not sure. Any help with this would be highly appreciated ! Thanks
So I had an accident in my IG where it ingested water. It’s been through a lot of work but have it back. The turbo sounds like it’s making noise when you floor it. Not sure it’s long for this world. Wondering what my options are. They don’t look to be that expensive but I’m not 100% sure on if Grok is giving me accurate part numbers. I’m also curious if there’s other aftermarket/upgrade options available. It’s one thing I don’t really understand. Can you just slap a new turbo on or would...
I take possession of my Grenadier Trial Master in a few weeks, and just doing some research. So Google tells me this below, and I've also seen videos say 91 is the required gasoline. My question is: since this engine was designed for cross-globe "overlanding," there is no way 91 is actually required, and the above says 87 is the actual minimum, which makes sense. So "91" isn't required. So the actual question is, does anyone have any experience running with 87 vs 91? I'm in the US and...
Hi all, I'm 75/25 for diesel over petrol on my build but still have nagging doubts over the future and pricing of diesel here in the UK. I know for some there is no diesel option in your region so the choice is already made for you. However I'm keen to get other people's thoughts on the choice and what you are going for and why. off-road/towing/long mileage etc etc versus short runs and better road responsiveness with throttle, less technical and lower servicing costs - etc etc tks in advance
Hi all, Does the B57/B58 engine have a "dip stick".? I haven't been able to find reference to one. If it doesn't.....(1) what will be the engine oil level manual checking procedure?, and (2) if the oil level sensor fails does this become an issue? I haven't seen any final images of under the bonnet footage as yet giving a reveal of space and setup. I imagine all of that has been covered, but some more technical details would be handy for us OCD people. Cheers
With the threat of extending the Ultra Low Emmision zone to every London borough, is anyone able to explain if either the Petrol or Diesel can enter these without being charged £12 every time? Cheers
Hi all. Can anyone recall seeing whether the engines will be cam chain or cam belt fitted? Tks vm
New to this so I hope I am doing the right thing.   Does anyone know if the off road mode or off a winch is fitted there will need a fast idle mode to keep the batteries topped up as best they can?
Good news ladies.  Two weeks ago I asked Ineos Customer Service which iteration of B58 (petrol) comes in the Grenadier since there are roughly 5 - the original model has naturally had improvements and refinements applied to it since it's debut circa 2016 or so.  While they couldn't/didn't give me a specific model number, they finally confirmed that at least it's a B58TU variant.  This is good news.  I wasn't sure which variant it came with, and for all I knew, Ineos made a deal for the...
A video of the breakdown of a busted B58 BMW engine. Don't know enough about engines to comment, thought some might find it interesting. SPOILER ALERT: Looks like the car went through water and got water into the engine. Engine no compress water.... $21k for an engine. I assume Ineos is getting a better deal than that, but something to keep in mind if you have to replace the engine out or warranty/insurance.
And other engine related ones:
Apologies if these have been shared already (didn't turn them up in search). I found the B57 guide interesting reading...
I came across this article regarding a new version of the B58 petrol v6 version B58TU2 https://bimmerlife.com/2022/04/22/bmw-b58-inline-six-receives-technical-update/ This version of the B58 seems to have introduced several very beneficial updates, one in particular is the addition of a secondary port fuel injection system that should help reduce carbon build up on the intake valves. This is a common issue with engines that only have direct injection have and which port injection...
I think, the essentials of the earlier post about petrol vs diesel (when traveling) need to be extracted from there, hundreds of replies rather confuse the matter: In a nutshell, petrolheads always prefer petrol bar any rational. Well, nothing wrong with that, imagine everything we do´d be rational, no emotions whatsoever. Pretty horrible. The disadvantages when on long journeys are range, storage, potentially price and availability. Petrol or diesel, problem nowadays are the emissions and...
Hey guys, has anyone found ( or equivalent) OBD2 socket in dash as yet? Can't remember seeing it.
Don't know if this has been discussed yet! How is the emergency drive system structured? How does the engine react when essential control elements such as the exhaust gas cleaning system fail? Can the car continue to run (as long as there is oil and water) if the electrical system has failed or there is no more AdBlue in the tank?
