Towing mount (Australia) for the IG

I recently bought a Zone RV and needed to raise the Tow-bar tongue by approx 100mm. For flexibility I wanted it adjustable and Allin engineering (Giorgia: Allin Towbars Admin <admin@allintowbars.com.au>) were able to design a new shaft (see images) that would be able to do the job. My first trip will be to Cape York so it's going to be fully tested! Thank John Canny for the heads-up!

Anyone know if the standard Ineos Receiver/hitch that came with their Grenadier can be used upside down to achieve a modest lift to the tow ball height? My dealer “presumes” this is safe and knows of several customers who have done so. I’m hoping not to have to ask Ineos myself (as their customer service will have no idea and take 6 months to get back to me!!)

I used mine that way and can't see any reason which it could not be used upside down. The hitch itself is very strong when compared to locally made ones which I have been using inverted since 2016.

Yep - works fine. But you need some serious tools to get the factory towball off.

Michael

How did the tow hitch go at Cape York.

Ok so resurrecting an old post - does anyone with the Allin grenadier specific hitch have a height from floor to ball / do35 mount face? Ideally
stock height grenadier - just looking at options for the new van do35 so want to get the height right - but with it being longer hoping it wont cause any issues with the van at 3.2t

From the underside of the Allin mount to the top side where the DO35 pin is mounted is 120mm. The DO35 pin base in another 20mm, giving 140mm in total.

All you need to do is add the height from the ground to the receiver on the IG, measure to the underside of the INEOS receiver. So 120mm plus 20mm plus XX (whatever than figure is).

Also look here for a second option Allin option here (which is 80mm plus 20mm plus XX). This Allin mount can be flipped so you can go even lower, you cannot flip the standard Allin IG mount).

Allin Model ATBBM280-3RIS (INEOS specific)
Between the 2 reds lines on Allin Model ATBBM280-3RIS measures 140mm (120mm plus 20mm).

You cannot flip this towmount, the reinforcing on the underside interferes with the DO35 pin laying flat).

Weight: 8.2kg with DO35 pin, 7.4kg without the DO35 pin.

Allin Model ATBBM280 (it does fit the INEOS OEM towbar)
Allin model ATBBM280 measures 120mm (80mm plus 20mm).

If you have trouble fitting the towmount, look here.

You can flip this mount to make it even lower.

Weight: 5.6kg with DO35 pin, 5kg without the DO35 pin.
