I’m pretty sure there’s a few comprehensive threads on here about what to bring on a trip like this. Perhaps someone can post the link or you can have a search. I remember having a quick skim a while back and they’d covered pretty much all of it. It would take me a while to write it all out that’s all. I don’t want to be unhelpful, just got a fair bit on at the moment, hope you can understand.

In summary - We were in a rush when we left and so have a little more than is ideal. We have a comprehensive tool kit, (with backups for important things like torx etc), and a lot of the basics for field repairs and maintenance, apart from a scanner. There now seems to be a scanner available that does the job and so that’s next on the list for us. https://globeguard.ch/en/home-en/ I need to do a bit more research into this though.

In terms of spares, it’s a hard one as we’re just one data point. We’re watching everything that’s happening with Grenadiers across the world and keeping on top of things the best we can. We did ask INEOS before we left about what they’d learned during testing as we thought that would be rather useful, but of course they didn’t divulge anything. In the end we just had to roll with it. The sacrificial lamb, unofficially part of the INEOS R and D team, on our own dime.

Small, light things that are likely to go or be required for servicing, (use people’s write ups, reviews and experience to make those decisions) definitely bring with them you, it will save you a lot of time, hassle and costs regarding international shipments.

Honest feedback. My wife and I watched the first few episodes then couldn't stand your wife going off on eco/political/life rants. What makes it worse is your wife is young with a lot to learn, we couldn't look past this and it was enough for us to stop watching. Shame as the content and journey was really good. We might try again at some point and hopefully these rants stopped. This isn't intended as criticism, it's honest feedback.

We’re ultimately trying our best as a family on the road, living in the wild and balancing everything else we have to think about. The vast majority of people understand that and appreciate coming along for the ride. For those that don’t, there’s plenty of other things you can do to occupy your time.

My wife is 40, she’ll appreciate your compliment regarding her age, I’ll pass it on.

I'm a total sucker for a turquoise lake, gravel beach, wildflowers and a forest with nearby mountains!
And mud is mud. Wasn't a problem when I was a kid , and as an adult - if you play in mud you , might get muddy!
