Front Drive Shaft Update

I notice the Ranger has an external boot.

Would this be more durable?

There must have some reason that Ford decided to do it differently.

Edit, it had momentarily escaped me that the Ranger and its derivatives have independent front suspension.. So the CV joints aren't doing much.
What you are looking at is a plunge style CV. Notice how deep the cup is at the end. It will be run at the pinion end so the grease doesn’t run out of the CV joint.

That's not a lift. That's a lift!

That is what mine looked like, molten lava. I was surprised nothing caught fire or the seals in the tcase were not destroyed. That Owl lift is awesome, cant wait to install one they designed some amazing stuff.

I dont believe the OP confirmed it was 4.5", he just said he had an Owl lift. It could be 2.5", which is also a common height for failures.

Just saw that too. Yikes.

I just got a quote from Sierra Ineos for a new driveshaft. $2,074 installed. $1,350 for the part alone. I opted to just get the part and will install myself given the labor costs are outrageous.
Be sure to get replacement bolts there one time use torque to yield, dealers should be able to give you the details.
