Front Drive Shaft Update

Beat me to it. I have had larger version of these spicer non greasable truck slip joints do the same piston thing. Pull the Uj back and it will create a vacuum then retract or pressurise and expand. Pretty sure because of being non serviceable Spicer Life series SPL slip joints are not vented. Not really an issue with bolted flanges but a real pain when trying to remove and fit them.
Would Spirolock suit this application better then a circlip

Interesting, I didn't know about them.
I see they're generally used on pistons, making contact on the outside. Can they also be used on the inside, as in our case?
In Europe, however, they seem impossible to find. Where can I find them in the size needed for our driveshaft?

The spiral lock ring can be used on an outside or inside locking groove, common for to be recessed into a gear and retaining parts onto shafts or in housings. It may be better to search spiral retaining rings as there are various brands. Spiral rings like circlips are available for various thrust loads different brands may have different materials in their products. Added some info from one brand.

Never really looked into circlip specs before, lost count how many I have removed and fitted from .5" to 15" over the years.
Not sure what the Ineos shaft groove diameter is but a 25mm external DIN circlip should take around thrust 1600kg 3500lb force before failure in a square edge groove and about a quarter of that if the edge is tapered. I doubt a good slip joint is generating those thrust loads even with rotational force of the shaft.
Does the Teraflex cv need to be shimmed between the circlip and hub to stop hammering, shock loading the circlip?
