First Oil Change Interval

Not going lie, this is a point that one would think would be settled by the company! We heard the same 12,000 by the college freshman-looking salesman when we bought it. Changing it at 10,000 instead. Easy to remember, goes along with my BMW 440i intervals. That car has the same engine (one of the reasons we bought the grennie), tuned to run at even higher RPM's, and turning 225,000 this week. There...I just jinxed it.

I did my first ~650 or so, subsequent oil changes have been around the 5-6000 mile mark, give or take. That's my plan, and 6000 is the recommendation from Ineso for "Heavy Use Case", per the owner's manual.

The owners manual is quite complete, I recommend reading it.
Yep, I would never subject an engine to 12,000 mile oil! 7000 would be really pushing it. 5000 for me, easy to remember and a whopping 20 minutes out of my day.

for a new car I change the oil when I get it home. With the grenadier that was about 275 miles.
You don't know what stuff may have been left in the engine or what flashings fell off etc.
Then every 5,000 miles with a tire rotation at the same time

I did the first oil change at 1,000 and all future oil changes every 5,000. I live in a warm / hot climate and opted to go with 5w 30 Liqui Moly.
I went with a thin 5w-40 Motul. Also in a hot climate. BMW engines care about shear ratings, not viscosity. The Motul is LL-01 BMW spec.
