First, sometimes I write too much ….. sorry. My question is I am adding a winch from GP Factor. Owl Vans has an installer near me. I could have done it myself but probably happen quicker if someone else does it. Do they need to program something for the electrics to work? I have the winch pre wiring from factory already. I ask because the dealer is installing the tow package and I am a little delayed for programming. I will do the winch when it arrives, but I wonder if they need to...
Anyone consider running the factory fog lights (or even aftermarket LP4s in place of the factory fog lights via the Owl bracket) too the 10a under hood pre-wiring in order to access the fog lights outside of “Offroad mode and high beam on” via the Ext 1 switch? Would this be possible? Eli in SA
I have this All-Top air compressor that has a high 12.35CFM rate. Only problem is finding connection points to use it on when airing up. I'd like to get a Nato plug setup like this where I could take the wires from the compressor and have them permanently attached to the nato plug so all I had to do was unscrew the cap and plug it in. $205+ seems a bit ridiculous for it. Anyone have any other options or a better idea?
Hello all. I’ve driven 69 miles, refuelled around 50 miles ago. Stopped at first job, restarted, drove 10 miles. Stopped at second job, car won’t restart. Sounds like it’s trying to start but just won’t fire up. Battery at 12.4v according to off-road stuff. Any ideas? I’ve called Oxford to try and speak to someone but waiting for a call back. 1st issue in 18 months. Car is 165 miles overdue it’s service due to Oxford’s schedule.
Hello, I tried to find out if the oem winch is delivered with a remote contol? If not, how do You operate the winch without a rc. I also cheked the winch manual, where I found a note to a rc... Thanks for answers! Regards Horst
A while back there was a thread about the extra wiring behind the front outer kick panels that I think are switched but my search foo is not finding the thread. My goal is to install some electrical outlets USB and cigarette lighter. Thanks
I recently purchased a pair of off-road pod lights to be bumper mounted and wired to the 10 amp under hood/bonnet wires. The kit comes with a relay, battery terminal connectors and a toggle switch. Clearly i don't need all of this given the prewiring. the total draw will only be less than 6 amps total for both. Do i need to install the relay then tothe factory 10 amp wires or can i remove the relay supplied in the kit and wire directly to the 10 am factory wires? thanks for any info.
Hey guys, I understand people have posted ad nauseam about the fuel tank indicator being off but I think the actual litres/miles and litres/km don’t agree. In my mind 100miles is further than 100km and therefore the litres/100km number should be smaller than the litres/100miles for the same fuel efficiency. I see that if I have 10.5L/100miles then the car tells me that’s 16.9L/100km. Where 16.9l/100km implies 27.2L/100miles and 10.5L/100miles implies 6.52L/100km. 16.9L/100km is...
Thread 'C-Tek Battery Tender (is this correct)'
Hello, Thank you for the help with this quick question. I need to place the Gren on a battery tender as it will sit for long periods of time. I want to install the C-Tek Comfort Panel Indicator. In the photos, marked in red I have highlighted the positions on the Aux battery and also where I want to install the panel. Does anyone see any concerns with this installation?
Hey all, looking at doing the following: 1. Switching the aux battery to a lithium with a new dcdc + solar charger + aux battery monitor Initially considering the following hardware: - Victron LiFePO4 Battery 12.8V/200Ah NG - Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/20 - Victron Orion XS DC/DC 50A - Victron SmartShunt 500A/50mV (?300A vs 500A) But I since read the Victron NG Battery documents which states it is mandatory to pair it with a Victron Lynx Smart BMS NG which is over 1k alone...
Thread 'INT 1 - fuse? relay?'
OK mega brains! I decided to work on the truck last night. I was way too tired and rushing. I couldn't find an extension cord handy and needed to trim something with one of those multi-tool oscillating saws (a dremel version of what used to be a "Fein" before the patent expired - you know what I'm talking about). Anyways, I looked at the truck and figured I could just use the plug from the inverter. It mostly worked felt like maybe voltage was fading a bit, but I got done what I needed to...
Has anyone used the jumpstart post in the engine bay as a source of power for something like a winch? It appears to use a heavy gauge wire which I would think is sufficient to power a winch.
Thread '300w inverter retrofitted - how I did it.'
I know several threads on this, but since most seem to be lengthy debates on P=IV, power factors etc, I thought I would write up my fit. I bought a 300w pure sine wave inverter, branded Bestek.. I bench tested it and it seemed to be able to power things around that power. I've popped out the on/off switch, more about that later. Next I removed the rear left panel in my IG. A surprising amount of space, I reckon you could fit a tyre compressor in there! So now a trial fit, no...
Do we know the location of the harness plug/connector when adding the JBL Nano as DIY install? I have the aux battery but the stock head unit has zero oomph so considering adding the JLB Nano.
Couldn't find a solid thread regarding these issues, just a few comments here and there. Starting a thread in case anyone else comes across this issue and what the fix is from the dealer if any on my end. Easiest way to describe my issue is fluctuating turn indicator sounds. From high pitched, to low hums, to normal, then to ear piercing screeching, to blown out speaker sounding. Literally sounds like I am trying to send a fax in 1993. Also, my lane departure noise just sounds like a...
Picked up my truck yesterday. No issues discovered until I got home and tried to lock the doors. Fob wouldn’t lock the doors. I used the key to lock and called it a day. This morning I discovered a warning on the center display showing that the hood/bonnet is open. Opened and shut several times. The mechanism seems to be mechanically sound. Two pulls to open. Still shows hood open. I’m assuming this is the reason I can’t lock the doors with the fob. Opens fine. Anyone fix this issue on their...
Thread 'No lock/unlock on right front passenger side?'
Is the lock/unlock button missing on the right front passenger side door? Driver side has it.
Thread 'footwell illumination'
When I removed part of the trim covers under the dashboard some weeks ago, I noticed some kind of “electric” device (see right side of the trim). Of course, I was curious. Clearly a small light to illuminate your toes ;) . Googling, it seems this company (TLC Redditch) makes lighting systems of the automotive sector and so on. I dismounted it completely: The yellow square is a LED (Light Emitting Diode). Beware: the lowest picture is the same as that above, but underside. One small...
Hi everybody, tonight I noticed that the lights for the number plate are blinding the reverse camera. Does anybody has a solution for this problem? (Taping the lights for example)
Hi All! Curious about this one… since the Grenadier will have an old school key, can remote start still technically be a feature that's included? Can’t find any info on this! Thanks!!!
