Having changed my 13 pin Euro towing plug to a 7 pin flat plug and installed a Redarc Tow Pro Elite electric brake controller (with diode kit), with the headlights turned OFF, the trailer lights and electric brakes all work as expected. When the headlights are switched on, although the trailer lights and brakes still all work as expected, a warning light comes on in the heads-up display and a "Trailer Light Malfunction" warning message appears on the centre display. As all of the lights in...
Thread 'tyre rotation'
hi, when I had the 110 td5 I was used to swapping the wheels (front rear) every 10,000km. Is it advisable to follow that practice with the grenadier too? which scheme do you use? only front / rear inversion or also right / left as per attachment?
With the stock steelies and either set of stock tires, what would be the recommended tires pressures to air down to and still be safe?
Thread '35x12.5 Toyo Open Country RT Trails!'
Finally bit the bullet and put on some new meats, again 🤣 I’m thoroughly impressed with these Toyo open country RT Trails. I started with 275/70r17, Eibach prototyped, put on 285/75r17, but knew there was more space. Finally ended up with 35x12.5. Haven’t tested offroad yet but there appears to be plenty of clearance. I tested the 285/75r17 extensively rock crawling and there was still plenty of space remaining during articulation so I’m confident these will clear without issue. My...
Tire pressure sensors are not anything I've ever had to deal with on my adventure trucks, and on my everyday cars, they have been serviced by the garage and never touch them. That having been said, a question for you tire geeks. Is there an emulator out there that would be compatible with the gren? I know they exist, but I've never needed one. The ineos system seems to be propritary with unfriendly software, trouble prone, inaccurate, and, at least in my case, a useless distraction. I...
Are you trying to decide what the best PSI is for the tires on your grenadier? Whether you’ve outfitted it with rooftop tent and the kitchen sink, or you’re just picking up coffee at Starbucks. Take your vehicle to a certified CAT scale and they will give you the axle weight for front and rear axle. ($13.50) You can then divide the axle weight by two tires to see how much weight is on your tires. Then using the formula below, or the chart attached, you can determine the correct psi...
Dear all, we are searching for four steel wheels for our Grenadier. They should be used doe a 500 km trail / offroad trip. Because of getting a very high price range for these wheels, I am thinking about checking the after marked prices. Do you know the producer of these rims or an retailer for 18 inch aftermarket rims fitting to the grenadier? Thanks a lot and best regards Marcus
Does anyone have the weights of the stock wheels? I am interested in the 18" alloys, but the weights of the steelies and 17" alloys would be useful to compare.
Could anyone suggest where I may purchase wheel spacers in the UK ?
I’ve got a set of five OEM 17” steel wheels with lugs up for grabs. Set has less than 200 miles driven on them. Free too anyone who can pick them up in central San Antonio. Message me to claim and coordinate. Thanks for reading!
Thread 'Tyre/Tire Recommendations Please.'
I have a UK Trialmaster on factory 18" wheels, I've tried 17"Braid Alloys on it with General Grabber 295/70 tyres ( around 33" Diameter ), very noisy when slowing to a standstil and on road handling deteriorates quite a lot Any other brand 17" Tyre recommendations please?
Thread 'Failed Tire Cover Bolt FYI'
Yesterday I needed to remove my spare tire to have the Grenadier ceramic coated. I pulled off the tire cover and found this plastic cover that protects the rim. When I tried to unscrew the star bolt in the center it just spun forever. I am guessing it was stripped at the factory or dealer. Has anyone else experienced this? I managed to remove the cover by reaching behind cover and unscrewing the three bolts holding the mount for this cover. I would recommend just making sure you...
Thread 'ARCHETYPE RACING | BILLET WHEELS'
Here's a rundown of most of our current 6061 T6 CNC machined billet monoblock wheels with lug patterns for the GRENADIER. I'll get SAGUARO added in a day or so. Our wheels are designed and machined in house. We can machine wheels from 14 to 22 inches in diameter and up to 13 inches in width. Offset is customer specific and each wheel is hub-centric. If there's a wheel design that's been rolling around in your head, just PM me, we can make it happen. :)
Got to ask, what do you guys think of these on the Grenadier. I have had them on my Power Wagon for a little while, and like everyone using them I am blown away by the traction and durability. I was afraid the tread compound was too hard for real trail work, but I am changing my mind. Technically they were designed for HD trucks and towing along side off road use. But I am totally blown away by these. And that is from a life long user of BFG off road tires.
I have been looking in vain for a set of steel wheels and so I took a punt on some from and eBay shop in Poland. I presume they were made there though they could be Chinese. Anyway they seem ok, decent steel thickness and heavy enough. About £100 each.. Just in case anyone is interested. I'll report here once I get driving on them. These are for a set of mud / play / overlanding tyres...
I have a few questions in my mind. s anyone running a lighter load rating than E? Any reason a lighter tire for less rotational mass would be a problem? I don’t want the widest tire possible but do want the largest possible that I can fit with the back door and still be ok. What’s the largest height a tire can be before it blocks the door?
So I have a second set of wheels and I have bought a set of Autel sensors to go in them. I think that in order to clone the original sensors I'll need the continental part no of the OE sensors. Does anyone happen to know this?
Hey everyone- Starting a thread to assemble experiences with the OEM 18" Steel Wheels. Looking to collect data from owners who have upgraded tires with and without the Eibach lift. Share your Setup: (OEM Springs, Eibach, Other) Share your Tires Upgrade: (e.g. BFG KO3 + Tire Size) Results: Pictures, rubbing, highway performance impacts, overall performance.
The more threads I read the more confused I get
