Hi All, I'm looking for a little advice if you'd be so kind. I've narrowed down the choice to the following (see below) but I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially if you've got a lot of experience with the tyres below. Honest pros and cons. We're looking for: A good all-rounder All seasons ideally One that is particularly focussed on off-road capabilities in a variety of terrains (Around 75% of overall use will be off-road) Strong side walls (Min 3 ply) Good longevity I'm aware...
Thread 'Thoughts on the OEM security lug nuts'
Any thoughts on the security lug nuts from Ineos or indeed the quality of the stock plain lug nuts? My Grenadier came with the security nuts installed on the 18” alloys but they appear to stick out too far compared to the plain lug nuts to my eye. I have since replaced them with the regular stock lug nuts but I’ve also seen them installed on the 17” steel wheels and they look even more out of place and perhaps vulnerable to impacts off-road. I know Agile OR offers a full set of splined...
Thread 'New Shoes KO3 285/70R17'
Swapped out the K02 for the larger K03. Really happy with them so far. Rear door opens easily.
This may or may not worry some, but I always try to buy locally made / made from countries that have similar social systems, services and relative wages and conditions to our own (for us Aussies, that would mean places such as USA, half of the EU, NZ, Japan, etc etc). But I just read this regarding tyre manufactiring in the USA...
Hi all, I'm looking for spare lug nuts for the OEM alloy wheels. 14x1.5 I believe. Any suggestions for a reliable UK source? Thanks in advance Tom
I've been trying to work through the math of proper offset for aftermarket wheels considering the below. Note I have the +2.5 inch Eibach springs. OEM: 7.5" Wheel, 265mm / 14.33" wide KO2 Tire, +55 offset (the 17" steelies) Desired Tire: KO3 LT315/70R17, 12.4" wide Trying to solve for optimal offset for an 8.5" and a 9.0" wheel. I'm ok with some extra poke, main priorities obviously being clearance and minimizing any additional stress.
Things I Wish I Knew Last Week I sliced open my sidewall on Saturday at the North Texas get together. When I went to Discount Tire to get a new one, he offered me 'certificates' for the new replacement plus the 4 originals. I had 2,400 miles on it. He said as long as the tires were new-ish and in good condition, Discount Tire will sell their warranty whether you bought the tires there or not. I had no idea. For $57 each I now have a no fault tire warranty on all my tires. If I'd done this...
Has anyone run KO3 275/65/18 on steelies. It’s the same size as OEM tire but a little wider. Thanks
Thread 'KO3s on 285/70R17 alloy wheels'
After much research I went with Fifteen52 Alpen SV in Frosted Graphite, which matches the Donny Gray paint very well. I have matte black wheels on other cars and like the look, but wanted to do something different for this one. The wheels are 17 x 8 ET 40, so the poke about a little more than the factory steel 17's that came with it. I went with the K03s and they are very similar to K02s that are on my girlfriend's Bronco. 285/70R17 doesn't come close to rubbing for street and light off...
Thread 'Owl offroad tire relocation bracket'
I really like that this bracket flips the position of the spare and allows left and right movement. Given these are 33's, they would have cleared the small door anyway, but this allows me to center the space on the rear door and display the wheel face. The instructional video on the Owl website is very helpful if you watch it before installing the bracket as there is a required sequence for one of the bolts for clearance.
I have a Trialmaster with the BFG 265/70/17 AT. I’ve got Maxxis RAZR 285/70/17 AT on another car and wondering whether I can swap these into the Grenadier without rubbing or other issues? I might do a minor lift later but just thinking a little tire upgrade now because I already have them, and will give that little bit more clearance. Thanks!
On Sunday I came home from a trip (not in the Grenadier, my wife had been driving that) to find the front nearside tyre had deflated - completely flat - so I blew it back up again with my compressor, set at 37 psi, to check for a puncture (couldn't see anything). Anyway it was just the same pressure the next day and the day after so that was a puzzle. That day, Tuesday, however, I saw that the rear nearside tyre was deflating. I blew that up again and left it overnight and when I checked it...
Thread 'Tire Size Comparison (clearance, gearing, etc.)'
Someone was asking about impact of effective gearing on tire size changes. There are good websites that let you compare two sizes at once but I wanted to see a whole bunch at the same time. So here's a spreadsheet I made back in the fall when I was making a decision. Those are probably common upgrade sizes for the Grenadier but I've attached the spreadsheet below if you want to play.
Hi all, Sorry I’m sure this topic has been discussed over and over but I’m really struggling to find my answer. I currently have 255 70 18’s and I’m wondering if I can run 285 70 18’s and still open and close the rear door without issues? I got the vehicle because I thought it was a beautiful beast but I am starting to really get into off roading and overlanding in the past year (I love it!). It’s a whole new ball game but I’m learning so much and having a lot of fun. I’m ready to...
Looking at tire options for the OEM 18" Steel wheels and am wondering what the actual rim width is... I've seen a few posts that mention running 295 tires on them, but then another saying that they thought the rim width is 7.5 inches, which seems too narrow for 295. Appreciate any information on this - doesn't seem to be documented anywhere...
Ok. I have owned my Grenadier a year. I have been on this forum for even longer. I love the vehicle, small quirks and all. The one that has gotten annoying to deal with and i cannot find a thread on here that helps is the annoying tire pressure warning. One, i have owned a few vehicles. I have never seen my tire pressure fluctuate so much. Second, i truly don’t understand what parameters set it off. Front to back, side to side, one tire pressure could be the same as the other and it sets...
There seem to many comments about tire size fitting that indicate a low level of experience or understanding of what all affects properly fitting a bigger tire. This is an IFS but it all still applies. It showed up in my feed and I think it's a good set of cliff notes for the newly offroad initiated. View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7MyN1qOFgs
Thread 'Help with wheels'
Hey, Looking to upgrade my 17” stock wheels, The new ones are 8.5j anybody have an idea on the stock below width? Hoping to swap my tyres over if they fit.
My Trialmaster came with locking lug nuts on the 17" steel wheels. I contacted my dealer to buy 5 of the open end lug nuts to replace them but was told they're out of stock. Has anybody found a vendor in the US selling lug nuts that match the 17" steel OEM lug nuts? I've done some googling for m14x1.5 lug nuts and have found some that are close, but nothing that matches OEM. Thanks.
For some bizarre reason, my TPMS system is giving inaccurate readings. Wish it could be disabled. Consequently, I have decided to purchase an ARB compressor and I'm looking for advice. I really don't want to spend silly money, but want quality and reliability. Thoughts: 1) ARB compressor in a portable case. 2) ARB compressor - fixed installation - if so where would you install? More importantly, can any one recommend where to buy in the UK?
