Wheel/Tire Upgrade Photos

Especially once snow gets compacted the MTs were totally ineffective on my very steep switchbacked driveway. They slipped and spun a little bit in powder too but compact snow and then the ice underneath the MTs could not grip at all (it was also around 20 degrees). Very scary going down on steep angled curves when all four tires break loose let me tell you, even when at very low speed. The oem bridgestones are a night and day difference, the wheels barely spin going up and dont slip going down
I missed that they were mud terrains, makes complete sense

I am strongly leaning toward the MT Baja Boss when I get my Grenadier. Are they available for the 18 inch steel wheels or only the 17 inch?

Switched to 265/70R18 Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3 Non-studded winter tires from 255/80R17 Falken WildPeak A/T4W for 3 season. Both on factory steel rims. It's subjective, the AT4W's are quieter and have a better on-bitumen ride. AT4W's off road this summer worked great. Haven't / don't plan to take the LT3's off road this winter, just snow and gravel.

I put the LT threes with studs on my Grenadier and I can hear it at slow speeds or find the window open but don’t notice it otherwise. They definitely are “slicker” on pavement. I put LT threes on my son’s 2023 4Runner. The stock tires on that were horrible in the snow even though it was an off-road premium model. He’s in a state where they can’t have studs. He says it’s much better traction than his stock tires.

How about road noise compared to the standard Bfg AT's?
A difference but not great imho. Though tyre noise has never bothered me so probably not that conscious of it.

Fitted my other wheels today, 33x12.5r17 They have the same 35mm offset as my other set but there’s about 20mm more poke due to the wider tyre… They ride well..View attachment 7896880
What are the specs on your wheels? I'm on the hunt for IG spec 17x8.5s to handle the 12.5" tires. Many thanks.

Yokohama Geolandar G003 M/T in 295/70/R17.
Black Rhino Arsenal on carbon metallic (custom powder coat), I bought a scratched set and had them redone).

Eibach 1.7" lift up front, eibach HD 500lbs in rear (about 1.4" lift).
Leitner relocation kit in the rear.

I think 33" tires is a real sweet spot for the Grenadier.
These tires works on my factory steel rims and this lift without any rubbing even at hard suspension compression.

How are you liking the Yokos? Def my favorite looking tires of all time. So aggressive and I hear they're quiet.

with 285 70 17 tires does the spare wheel interfere with the left tailgate?

Got new wheels, tires, and a lift after 11 months of trouble-free ownership. Performance, preserving driving feel, and keeping weight down were the main priorities behind the setup.

Net gain is only about +2.7 lbs per wheel:
Factory 18" steelie (38 lbs) + LT255/70R18 KO2 (51 lbs) vs. Method 703 17x7.5 6x130 (27.7 lbs) + LT255/85R17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T (64 lbs).

At stock height, there was some rubbing at full lock with the Baja Boss (34.6" diameter), which was resolved with the +1.7" front / +1.2" rear lift. The FOX 2.0 Performance Series shocks also noticeably improve both on-road and unpaved driving.

Height was ~80" on OEM wheels. With the new wheels, tires, and lift, it now sits around ~84". Still plenty of space in the garage for a roof rack, load bars, or possibly even the V2 Pro RTT XL with the Grenadier mounting kit.
