Trickle Charger hookup location

I found the correct battery maintainer hook up under the hood. It sits unnoticed right next to the Positive. I set up my CETAK 7002, all good .

I hooked the pig tails up to those spots, works a charm!

Weird, it doesn't state if it runs on 110v or not. I suspect it does but who knows.
I ordered one, I like the features and the price was right.
I did order the big c80-li, the price delta was $30 and I thought it was worth it.

Delivery in October...

I guess as it’s priced in dollars on a US Amazon site it will work on 110v. In the U.K. the Amazon listing states that it comes with a UK style plug.
I just checked out the C80Li and I like the power supply feature. Could be useful

Ineos official answer regarding smart/trickle chargers. They recommend a Bosch C7 12v 7amp battery charger which has a six stage profile.
Not much info online and can’t find a new one for sale in the uk. Looking at the Bosch website for C line chargers and there is no C7 only starting with C10. It seems these are designed to be used with EFB batteries whereas most other manufacturers don’t mention EFB. The good thing with these is you don’t need to decide which battery type you have it will start a gentle charge and decipher for itself what battery type you have. The various models all charge upto 120ah batteries and some do LiFe-PO4
I have a Victron smart charger permanently wired in , so that when when I get to a powered camp I can connect my mains lead, which then powers the smart/trickle charger, fridge then automatically switches over to mains power and any any other mains powered kit can be powered up without the need for an inverter. I’m tempted to get a Bosch charger as I can take out the Victron smart charger that I have and re use else where on other kit. The the solar mppt controller that I’m about to install can go where I have the Victron charger. And I can permanently wire in the Bosch charger in a different location. Deciding on the C40Li model as may be adding a Lithium house battery when I get to kit out the inside.

The C7 charger is likely obsolete. I'd stick with a C30 or above (like your intended C40Li) so you get memory function. You don't want to have to dig your way under the rear seat to set the battery type every time you want to top off the batteries.

Using the Noco (sometimes overnight) will raise the charge level on our single battery substantially (95-98%). But it seems to take a little while to register the actual charge level once you're running again. If I run a few short trips it seems the state of charge will increase a point or two every time I restart where as normally I'm going in the other direction after short trips.

I don’t have an AGM setting on the Victron chargers I own. It’s either normal, high ,Li-ion and Recondition. I use the normal setting which does an absorption charge at 14.4 volts as I’m not sure if the high setting at 14.7 volts is too high or not. It seems there are different types of AGM as well so I’m taking that it’s a basic AGM until I know different. Just for an idea here is a screen shot from the Victron mppt controller manual When I add my solar and Victron mppt controller I’ll use the no 2 setting which does an absorption charge at 14.4 volts until I know better.

For a battery maintainer I went the CTEK route they really make it easy with their pre-fab pigtails for under the hood and cable extension kits. I attached the charger to a nearby workbench and plugged it into an integrated multi-outlet power strip so I can easily turn the charger off with one switch, disconnect the plug from the pigtail under the hood and hit the road.

I did put a black wiring loom on the pigtail to protect it and make it a bit more factory looking under the hood. Also, I’m sure I could have poked the pigtail through the grill or somewhere else to avoid lifting the hood but I didn’t like the idea of the plug being exposed directly to the elements or visible dangling through the grill or something similar.

Yes I’m not confident I know enough about batteries to start messing around in the advanced settings so I stick to the defaults.

I have the ctek 5A charger but I find it gets very hot when charging the Grenadier. I need a trickle charger for my motorcycle and I think it's going there next.

Yes unfortunately that’s happened to a few owners. This happened to me last year. First photo taken 1052hrs and the second at 1053hrs. Go figure that out. . Hasn’t happened since. My vehicle is regularly left for days and sometimes weeks connected to a smart charger.

That's some reassurance then that the 0% happens to others (I guess). Was worried I hadn't grounded the Gren properly and damaged something. Guess I'll see what has happened when I get back to the Uk in a couple of months

Nicely done, thanks for the photos. I bought the NOCO 10 & extension after looking at CTEK, can't remember why. Will buy the pig tails for it next time as makes sense having it permanently installed.

USE THE CORRECT CHARGING PROFILE ON THE TRICKLE CHARGER
If you are using a trickle charger on the MOLL EFB battery make sure the charger is set to the correct charging profile.

Moll's EFB recommended charge rate is 14.4 volts and the maximum is 14.8 volts for its EFB batteries. Make sure the charging profile you choose is compatible with that. More information here:

I've never came across an efb battery before.
Can it be replaced with an AGM battery is needed when on the road? Does the charging system care?
