Third party sealed snorkels for the IG and QM

Tyler and the like have used the most effective and cost efficient aftermarket parts available. For well known brands, in Australia these are easy to come by. Plus, he has learnt from the misfortune of others, and sometimes himself.
Blow an engine in Tasmania? No worries, tow him out, get on the grapevine and old mate will find you a new used one. And install it for a couple of beers.
Not going to happen with a Grenadier, so we are cautious.

Making the factory RAI and airbox into a real snorkel is like weaving your own climbing ropes.
It might work...sort of...or it might not.
Who wants to play chicken?
Spot on.
One glance at that workshop manual diagram says get an aftermarket sealed airbox and bend up some pipe.

I have the OEM RAI in pieces. It is not sealed in any meaningful way. Air would have gone to the air filter from many of the joints, the airbiox and the main opening.

When the new sealed snorkel was fitted I could hear the induction noise at the opening because much of the air was now entering that way. The old OEM was quieter, because it was getting air from multimple places.

I assume these are the main components of the RAI. I don’t see how one would ever seal this adequately.
