The Alucab tub poptop camper canopy and modifications to the factory bed would of been more interesting, something different, at least in Australia.

Or he could just slide on a Tommy Camper onto his NORWELD tray, just like this one.

The Tommy campers are impresive, Tong Metal will sell a similar bare shell that you can fit out and paint yourself. I have been interested in other options for lower weight with lower travel heights and tub has a lower floor height over a flat tray for something that will be a permanent fixture.

The part I don't quite get about this setup, is why take a 4-5 passenger truck with dedicated rear seats and put small camper on back that barely suits 2? 35% of the camper space is wasted on rear seats and door structure. It's a horribly inefficient use of a not so insubstantial footprint. If this is the truck you have, and you want to utilize it, I guess it is what it is, but to plan it from the beginning that way? If I'm doing a light truck 4x4 camper that needs to have a little more capability than a 4x4 van for some reason, how does this configuration even compete with what you can do with a troopy?

I feel you are starting to see that camper canopy build out in Australia. Bridget from driven garage and Red Dirt Diary. She recently added the Aluminum Cab mod canopy on her Toyota.

I spoke to Alu-cab about the Mod set up for QM. They told me at this moment it is at the back of the line..

What you can do is put sides that are drawers on flat tray and then put a canopy camper top on or even a slide in.
