Australia will get a steel bumper but I think Europe gets a plastic one. As the Roo bar mounts on top of the standard bumper it needs to stick out more to allow for lights to be mounted behind the bar.

I believe the extended front bumper is Euro spec (Euro pedestrian impact regulations). The Australian version comes with a shorter front bumper.

You mean the bumper is larger now with or without a winch?
If so I consider to order the winch. Then everytime I look at the bumper there is a reason for me why this obstructive part has to be there and I will not be annoyed too much.

Edit: Tried to order the winch. No chance, would have put back my build slot to next year. 😠

I like the way the bumper sticks out. It provides an excellent place to sit. With my Defender, I sit there very uncomfortably. But my favourite place to sit is on the lower tailgate of my Range Rover. Then I like to sit in pairs and with the picnic basket.

Aye, thats my favourite perch on the D4, though I use the upper part for rain protection rather than the sun!!! Will miss it on the IG but then it can be awkward at times reaching all the way in. Life's a compromise and all that.

Am I mistaken? The bumper looks smaller on this picture:

Is that a bull-bar on the front bumper? It might be affecting the perception of the bumper - ?
Yes , a bullbar (or really , roo bar). the bumper/bar is quite unobtrusive, compared to many of the ones you see around these days.

When I look at the all-around view in the configurator, I have to say that it's very hard to see the front bumper at an "awkward" angle. All other image settings seem easier to fix than this one. Coincidence??!!??

I suggest calling the whole thing BUMPER Gate.
