Hi All
I have had the intermittent warnings of Power Steering Error" for about a year. These used to clear when using the now recognised Grenadier usual method of turning the thing off, beating it with a birch branch for at least 10 minutes (other types of tree may work) and then restating it. Fine. The dealer claims to know nothing of it and as always claims I am the only one on the planet with this problem.

However, at the weekend the steering failed, not error, failed. I could barely move the car with no power steering.

It now rests with the dealer, who reported that when it came off the recovery truck all was fine!

Anyone else had this?

Yes I had exactly this in the first two months of ownership. Three times on a recovery truck. It was very frustrating 😡
First time the power steering fault could not be replicated at the dealers so a software update and reboot of the system was carried out. A couple of weeks later it happened again at a busy intersection with traffic lights. This time the “ gateway control unit “ was replaced. Again a couple of weeks a later and power steering failed again’ this time at a motorway service station. Another long wait for the AA. This time the fault was not intermittent but permanently disabled power steering. This time the power steering pump was replaced and has been fine for the last two years. The most frustrating thing at the time was the waiting for parts to get the issue sorted. I hope parts delivery is quicker now.
Good luck with getting the issue sorted.

Hi Paul,
I also hard this issue. In most of the cases it happens when starting the engine and I could feel the servo pressure going but coming back after a second. However the error message for the whole run or sometimes went away after some kilometers. However last summer it happened quite frequently while driving - power steering went off for a second and then came back. I was always anxious when it happened but at the end it was never a critical situation. In fact the dealer and also IA Engineering support thought it was SW/signal issue which it was not. At they end it was another hidden fuse box which most likely was defect from factory - new fuse box and now for six months no issues.

Can you add that to the Tool section of the forum?
When plugging plugs back in and wiggling fuses , and liberal applications of the obscene vernacular have no effect.

Best of luck getting it sorted. It all adds to the collective knowledge we can thrust at the head scratching service agent if needs be.
