Front Drive Shaft Update

That’s the spare that I carry. Same as with Teraflex, they engineer these. Dana did it originally and they are all made in China now. Vendors are just putting their name on them and distributing.
Another member here called me today actually and he said Tera told him directly that their joint is made in China. It's all Chinese these days.

The guy from Tera suggested he would inquire about modification of the boot but it sounded a bit like he was just trying to appease.

I am hoping Plan A for me will be ready in a couple more weeks. If it works I will certainly disseminate the info as soon as I can. Still waiting to hear back on 100% confirmation they can build what I want and do it properly.

here is the answer from Dana Afetermarket Group to the request for the original CV joint only:

Dear ...,
I would like to inform you that unfortunately the material is not available for sale.
Thank you for your understanding!

😦

A puzzling response given they make parts readily available for the drive shafts used in other vehicles, Jeeps in particular.

I think I trot this out every time we get to this point in the discussion and then someone tells me it won't work. Go outside the flange with a snap over boot that can be held in place with a clamp. Maybe you have to pack your CV with an extra 6oz of grease due to the extra volume. Of course this isn't exactly the boot shape but the concept is the same.

As @Dokatd mentioned before, this would cause the grease to flow into the boot, harden and eventually fail do to the boot being lopsided/ out of round.

Does anyone here have a connection to Couch? If they're willing to pursue portals then the CV issue would seem small by comparison.
