Front drive shaft broken

I dont know. Talked to a tech last week. He s the senior mechanic for a decent sized ineos dealer. I've gotten to know him pretty well. He told me that he has never seen that failure. Seen a bunch of other failures but never that one with the joint failing. And we have a fairly decently large group with lifted grenadiers around here.

Maybe it's more exaggerated than real?

The melted joint? I think I have only seen three including this last one.

I know Noo Zild is a tiny island which often doesn’t even appear on some global maps but thought I’d comment anyway.
I picked mine up last week after a number of “treatments” 🤣
The technician and service department appear completely unaware of any driveshaft problems at all! “Never seen anything like that”. And also zero mention of any extra inspections of the relevant areas when replacing the front differential seal. So INEOS are clearly NOT doing any monitoring even in any anecdotal way down here at least.
I imagine many respected and professional dealers in say the US are doing this but it’s clear to me that so far there is zero concern from IA. 🤷🏼‍♂️

From my experience it is standard practice for dealerships to deny knowledge of recurring or known faults. They are normally careful with their wording, "I don't recall having seen that problem"

Best is you ask when two dealer staff are present: You ask, you notice they look at each other, and then one of them gives the answer you expected....

So, what do you do when you're talking to the service manager? Say "Hey, I don't talk to employees alone, go find another mechanic to stand there with you"?

Someone could prepare a gallery of failures or a dossier of reports. Unredacted of course.
Plonking it on the dealer's desk would provoke a reaction of sorts. He'd have to take his feet off the top as a minimum.
 
i know this mechanic pretty well, and we talked well away from management. Same with another dealer that i used to use. they said they saw problems with 2.5" lifts but very rarely with any other lifts. They did not like to do the 2.5" lifts for that reason but the 1.7" and 1.2" they thought worked out in the real world. Sure none of them would make any guarantees but i think this is at least a datapoint, as unquantified as it is.

If anything i still think ineos should be more serious about the personalization aspects of ineos grenadier and realize that this culture is real. And all/most car brands have some form of lift kits as being par for the course in this market.

When I told my dealer they denied any knowledge, but as the conversation developed mentioned Teraflex….🤔 muppets… now dealer has changed and they have no idea… fixed myself.
