Possibly the first detuned Grenadier? No more bell ringing for youToday, I fitted a small strip of sound deadening lengthwise on the back of the steering damper bell endso you can’t see it from the front and it 100% works. It doesn’t interfere with anything
Just tape something to the steering dampener housing… if the sound changes pitch, then you know that’s the source.. if no change.. then something else is causing it… don’t trust your ear.. sound travels in unexpected mannersGood morning everyone,
I’m experiencing the exact same “bell” cling sound coming from the undercarriage whenever I go over a sharp bump, even at moderate speed.
I’ve read about the known steering damper issue, and while that explanation makes sense, in my case the noise is definitely coming from the rear, where there is no such parts. I’ve crawled under the vehicle but haven’t been able to identify anything loose or visibly out of place.
Any insight or suggestions from the community would be greatly appreciated!. I have attached a video to demonstrate.
yes you maybe right.... I might here it comming from the rear when it actually comes from the front .... will put some tape around it a go for a test drive.Just tape something to the steering dampener housing… if the sound changes pitch, then you know that’s the source.. if no change.. then something else is causing it… don’t trust your ear.. sound travels in unexpected manners
Ok so I Temporarely applied tape around the steering damper housing and the "bell" cling stopped ... gone. I now have a a solid answer . Tahnk you all very much !hi, you can simply remove the steering damper for a few km and check if that is actually the one making the noise. it will probably be him.
I attach a photo of the solution I adopted.
Hopefully he doesn’t crash from a death wobble when it is removed lolhi, you can simply remove the steering damper for a few km and check if that is actually the one making the noise. it will probably be him.

probably the most intrusive process of elimination efforthi, you can simply remove the steering damper for a few km and check if that is actually the one making the noise. it will probably be him.

To keep within impartiality rules, it is fair to say other drinks manufacturers bottles are availableDuring my holidays in June, the bell sound came back and became worse, see my first post on this thread and some other people experienced the same.

As it is clearly the inner and outer sleeve of the steering damper, bouncing against each other, and as i didn't see loose nuts, and as I didn't have the material to try the solution of @Skydance in this post in this thread:

... and as i was fed up, I tried another solution.
I drunk a bottle of some power drink, good for everything, including the reproductive system (I didn't try this), I had a clever idea (although I say it myself) and adapted the text of the bottle:

I did cut the bottom and top of the bottle, did cut the side wall and did slide the cylinder over the steering damper as shown in the next picture. The original one is still inside, because, while making the pictures today, I couldn't slide my "new" bottle further than shown on the (a bit blurry) picture.
