Some owners have shrink wrapped their bars using vinyl tubing sourced from Amazon, cheap solution and you get to choose the colour (or color).

Yes. I cannot see how any painted finish on those bars would hold up after a few km of corrugations with a load tied to them. This raptor paint is pretty tough, but regardless, I've not yet used them for tying down, rather a handle to help access the roof. I wanted the textured look, otherwise...

I have not done it but I would suggest something like this might work:

Dual Wall, Adhesive Lined Heat Shrink Cut Lengths, Red, 1200mm Long

Red, glue lined heat shrink designed for waterproof sealing and insulating electrical connections. Supplied in 1200mm long lengths, this heat shrink tube has a high shrink ratio (3:1), good mechanical properties and dielectric strength.

Anyone know what torx size to use to remove the roof bars? Didnt find one the right size in the factory tool kit

Well folks, that was a complete fail. The shrink wrap was first of all the wrong color (too bright). Secondly, it did not shrink evenly. wavy lines everywhere. So I put it back together. giving up on this.
