5 Year Trip in a Grenadier Across the World towing a Patriot X3 Which We Live In.

Still in Colombia? I would have thought you would already be in Ecuador (country where I lived and two of my three kids were born) or Peru. Enjoy South America and good travels. 🍻
Update to come! I reckon we’re about 3-4 weeks away from Ecuador. Thanks!!

Good observations Matt, I have done similar milage myself, 47,000 miles. A couple of things.. I rewired the trigger for the NATO socket to INT1 which means you can charge your trailer all the time. I’m currently in Croatia with my trailer, charging has been working great. I posted a thread on how to do it somewhere..

My air on works well, we have had heat in the high 30’s in the last few days it has coped well, even on fan speed 1…
It’s also great in extreme cold, blows hot well too, it’s getting it to blow warm air thats the issue.

I hot glued the transfer lever pin in over a year ago, it hasn’t moved since…

Great write up…

I'll be keeping the rear door latch clean. With a cargo barrier it would be a hassle trying to open from the cargo area!

Indeed. Confidence not yet fully restored in our case, after a worst-possible-time failure (on the port, tires deflated, full loadspace).

Brilliant write up, Matt - thank you for taking the time and sharing on socials. Needless to say, loving the videos.

Plus one here for the sticking rear door look and mystery once-off refusal to start.

We’ve had the ‘RoW’ Eibach lift installed with no issues, the bit of extra clearance combined with 185/75s has more than paid for itself, particularly in jungle use. Highly recommended.

Where did you have the LRA tank installed? Any headaches getting it in (to the country, and to the vehicle)?

Love the photos of the expedition with your Dad, happy days. Safe travels!
We got the tank installed at INEOS dealership. There was a kink in one of the pipes initially but after testing and checking everything properly (which I insisted on) it was all good! It’s an absolute game changer for us. We’ve kept two jerries just in case. Gives us lots of options. No issues shipping.

Glad you’ve had no issues with the lift, we’re relying on our underbody protection at the moment but it’s not the greatest long term solution, even though it’s very good at what it’s designed to do. I’d rather not be scraping our way around the world! 😂

Nice writeup! You've put the truck through real world testing and I really enjoy your summary. It resembles my experiences.

I found that the latest software update made my petroleum gauge more dependable. It could be coincidental but I don't think so. It used to hang around half empty and then rapidly get into red and empty. Not so much anymore.
It seems we’ve all had quite similar experiences which is good in some ways as it shows if the issues were fixed, we’d be onto a winner! 💪 Fuel gauge - let’s hope that’s the case our end. 👍

Got some pics would be great to see! Glad your aircon is working well! Good plan with the trailer wiring. 👍

I can send you the owl washers for the rubber stops on the rear door.
Let me know where to send it to|

I just used normal large washers in mine and they have stayed put since.

Here you go Matt
