What did you do with your Grenadier today?

As an example, with around 100kg in the rear cargo area and a towball weight of 250kg my airbags are set at 40psi
Also if you go offroad (significant spring articulation) make sure the bags are at the minimum 5-10psi.
Or else the bottom perch may dislocate and you will not be able to relocate it easily. Happened to me, and it also dislodged the airbag inflation nipple at the top. I had to take it to a 4wd shop.
So if you unload either vehicle and/or disconnect trailer/van - deflate the airbags!
Easy to forget , but don't!

Finally got to setup and install my new 3/4 Leitner roof rack. First roof rack I’ve installed and I got to say, I’m impressed with Leitner’s build and quality. Easy to follow instructions. I got my Leitner pod delivered today, and I’m planning to install it this weekend. Owning a Grenadier has made me more hands on with my Truck. I’m now eager to tackle the next project.

Thanks @Tazzieman. I have yet to load up and hitch up with the airbags fitted to establish what a typical pressure will be. I'm hopeful I can use a repeatable reference point like a level drawbar instead of checking the height each time. It's not an exact science and not millimetre critical.

What I have learned is my vehicle no longer fits in my garage with the Leitner rack and airbags fitted 😫. It should settle down as the airbags free up. I only need to get about 5mm back. An aux tank would resolve it, plus a GVM upgrade, plus... 🙄

Hi Tazzieman,

I am guessing you have factory springs? I have the slightly longer Ebach springs and the competitors air bags, and have not had that problem with wheel lifts.
I am guessing it was caused by the inflated air bags being longer than the fully extended springs, and then sliding off the base. ?

Cheers

Steve.

I have the factory springs matched to extra weight of the sliders+winch+bullbar
The problem was I forgot to deflate them and went on a gnarly track with full articulation at one point.
The bags were held against the springs. The guys at the shop that fixed it (removed sway bar etc etc) said ''you wont do that again will you'?!"
And I guess it's unlikely!

I’ve just had the same airbags fitted along with the black marked Ineos/Eibach springs. I’ll report back when I get the vehicle back. 👍🏼. I have the lifting roof conversion, full underbody protection plates, auxiliary 90L petrol tank, awning. Yet to kit interior out. I have the front winch installed and may yet upgrade the winch to something with a longer spool. Maybe the new Redwinch offering.

I have eibach springs, and Polly airbags with no outer kevlar protectors, Tazzie and you "Logsplitter" have the Airbagman air bags with the slippery kevlar outer bags, and with a lack of extended spring length in Tazzieman's case, that may cause the slippage, with your longer eibach springs you probably will not have a problem.
I have a diesel Trialmaster with a winch, roobar, rock sliders, brush bars, awning, roof solar panel, 4 factory rhino roof bars, 2 under vehicle mounted ARB air compressors, auxilary fuel tank, and lots of tools, and tow an off-road hybrid caravan with a ball weight varying between 230 and 280kg, and have also done a couple of rough tracks involving wheel lifts and also forgotten to drop the air pressure in the airbags a couple of times, but never have forgotten to drop the tyre pressures, and my springs stayed in place.
So I was wondering if the spring falling out in Tazzieman's may be caused by a lack of spring length combined with the slippery kevlar outers.

I have standard length springs as didn’t want a lift. Mine are just the Ineos’s supplied black marked springs which have the highest load rating for the standard Grenadier.

Who knew a fanny pack would make a great grab handle bag?! I took off the handle and it fit perfectly through the loop on the back. It’s a Kifaru Rogan pack if you’re interested.

I would think the higher pressure bag is holding onto the spring, so when the spring is stretched the air bag seat pulls out?

Back in the 90’s people were playing with air bags in coil sprung LR’s. Off-road they would switch a line to interconnect the bags.

Just imagine. The girl behind the counter would either blush or punch you in the face if you asked “could I grab a fanny pack” 😂😂
