I'm looking at an INEOS without towing receiver. I know that the receiver can be added aftermarket. I will be pulling a ski boat. i am hearing that a full INEOS optioned towing package is the only way to go and it is not recommended to just add a receiver and tow a boat. any thoughts or experience out there. boat is a 21 foot sea ray. thx in advance, Barry

The "ideal" way is to have the dealer install the hitch and OEM wiring, although this will set you back between $3k-4500. The OEM towing control module interfaces with the rest of the vehicle and turns off rear parking sensors as well as changes ABS/ESP profiles when a trailer is detected.

Off Road Gear Guys has a solution for both the hitch and wiring, although it doesn't do the OEM integration, this would be your next best bet.

See if you can negotiate to get the dealer to throw in the towing package upgrade - instead of credits for other accessories that you will probably replace anyhow.

If it is a new car buy CazyOldMan is on the money...if it is a used car buy Anand's second solution will $ave you (y)

I'm looking at several low mileage 2024's. I don't mind adding what is needed as long as it will keep the vehicle safe when towing a boat. Availability could be ab issue on the components. I heard that the INEOS package includes a trailer sway module and stronger rear springs. I truly appreciate the input. I was headed to the dealership today to most likely make the purchase. However, this vehicle needs to be able to safely pull my boat.

This is the boat I will be pulling. 21 foot sea ray.

Rear springs are not part of the OEM tow option... My vehicle had the OEM tow package and still had the lightest rated rear springs

I own that identical boat... and living where I do (northern, hilly Vermont), there's no way I'd get a Grenadier without the factory hitch.

It always was a head-scratcher to me that people would outfit a vehicle with front and rear lockers, but no hitch.

I paid a fortune to add a factory hitch to a 2024 Defender 90 (my 2022 was built to my specs from new)... again, confused over why a Tacoma comes stock with a hitch, but not a Land Rover or Grenadier. Even if you're only mounting a bike rack, it seems part and parcel to option out for this type of automobile.

Agreed that Grenadier should make the hitch standard. Its really the best way to carry stuff, from a bike or ski rack to a boat. What most manufactures or aftermarket accessory makers don't call out is that the hinges on barn doors with rear mounted tires can carry very little additional weight (Ineos recommends no more than about an additional 5 lbs in storage box in tire---otherwise you risk door sagging and Ineos won't cover that). So yea, let Ineos know they should add a hitch standard, integrating to the car frame is by far the best, and sadly with all the tech on the car getting the wiring done right is key as well---and that is where getting the manufacture to do the tow package really does make sense.

I have a feeling the hitch is not standard equipment because the hitch receiver sticks out, and reduces the departure angle which would be undesirable for some people. Personally, I would like to see the hitch redesigned so it is flush when not in use.
