As an Observer mind you...I ventured into an upmarket "bottle shop" at the local shopping centre. I asked the "young thing -female" tending the cash register if they sold Foster's. She smiled and politely asked (I kid you not!) "what's Fosters?.. is it a wine or beer?"
I replied, can you check on the computer. Ah! Fosters in cans and Fosters ("lite") in bottles.
There were 53 alternate beer brands available in the cold room according to the stock list on her computer terminal.
Crocodile Dundee has a lot to answer for

The local brew in Queensland is XXXX, the sight of which would send some of my visiting American work colleagues into fits of laughter. Apparently that brand has other connotations in the USA. XXXX .. the beer...is an acquired taste. Those less kind folk from south of the Qld/NSW border believe the name XXXX was chosen because the hapless burgers of QLD couldn't spell "p!$$"
But I digress.... becoming more common as I age...apparently
