Time to get back to the topic, sealed snorkels. Which generally do not need to wade through rivers of Fosters.

Personally I like the OEM design. Not cutting into the vehicle bodywork is a major bonus for me. Also I’m not a great lover of the forward facing raised air intakes. It would be a concern to me that going 70mph in driving rain , that I would be forcing water down the intake.
To get one in the U.K. would be prohibitively expensive. They are pricey enough without shipping and import duties added. I’m waiting for a U.K. or EU based manufacturer to come up with a reasonably priced solution

As an Observer mind you...I ventured into an upmarket "bottle shop" at the local shopping centre. I asked the "young thing -female" tending the cash register if they sold Foster's. She smiled and politely asked (I kid you not!) "what's Fosters?.. is it a wine or beer?"

The local brew in Queensland is XXXX, the sight of which would send some of my visiting American work colleagues into fits of laughter. Apparently that brand has other connotations in the USA. XXXX .. the beer...is an acquired taste. Those less kind folk from south of the Qld/NSW border believe the name XXXX was chosen because the hapless burgers of QLD couldn't spell "p!$$"
But I digress.... becoming more common as I age...apparently

I like the round tube, tucked against, and slightly above the wing. That one is stainless also.

I like the snorkel. It’s not really fully usable on a modern electronic engine, mostly wading insurance and of course good in dusty environments. So for me it’s a huge chunk of change and I worry about induction noise for the passenger.

I think the OEM style looks a bit more more subtle. I wonder what it would look like body coloured?

My preference was for the OEM styled variant. I believe this variant is also a bit quieter.

From what I can tell the GrenX / Canna Fabrication OEM styled snorkel and airbox system doesn’t leverage the OEM resonator or contain one of its own:

I went OEM because of no fender cutting, it just replaces the OEM. Plus I can reinstall the OEM RAI back.

Witrh the rear facing teardrop model the induction noise is MUCH louder than the OEM style snorkel. I have the OEM style on my car and I drove Rohan's car with the teardrop style. The snorkel opening is right near the driver's head and if the window is open, the increased induction is noticeable. Some people like induction noise, but not me.

The OEM Style is louder than the INEOS RAI, because the OEM Style snorkel is drawing its air from the opening, not multiple places like the INEOS RAI.

The OEM style snorkel is not that much louder than the INEOS RAI. It is a noticeable increase but I have no issues with the window down. The teardrop model IS much louder. I found myself leaving the window up.

The third style GrenX ramhead snorkel is probably between these two in noise, but I have not driven a car with it fitted. I have driven a car with INEOS RAI, GrenX OEM style snorkel and the GrenX teardrop snorkel.

EDIT: my GrenX snorkel is plumbed into the OEM airbox, while diesel owners wait for the new sealed airbox. So noise levels may change, once that is fitted. My car is a diesel and RHD, meaning the snorkel is on the driver's side.

Thanks @KristinaM and @TheDocAUS I really don’t want anything much louder. My petrol Grenadier is already significantly louder since having the LRA tank fitted with exhaust mods to accommodate the tank. I really would like to find a quieter exhaust solution, as it’s quite a drone unless revs are low. I understand this doesn’t affect the diesel models as much.

Stay tuned. I’ll have the GrenX OEM styled snorkel and sealed airbox installed within the next two weeks so I’ll let you know how this sounds on a LHD petrol once everything is done.

I’m hopeful we’re still able to roll down the windows while driving without going deaf…

GrenX are looking for overseas dealers including the UK. These are needed to increase batch runs and reduce the cost per unit.

In the long term Rohan would like to cut the unit price in half, but it requires bigger batch runs and more dealers.

As cool and old school Defender look the one is, I think the factory style is the smart bet. Not sure how or if it plays into things but being reversible back to a factory setup is often solid reasoning.

@Logsplitter - FWIW we ended up paying ~$860 USD total ( close to a third of that was duties ) for air freight from AUS. Definitely not cheap but arguably cheaper than a hydro locked B58 which is what I tell myself ( repeatedly ) when it comes to justifying this purchase.
