Can't wait to join you guys, scheduled to port on 4/19. And I may do standard hood and front fenders but 8k is quite a bit, at the same time could be well worth it.

Hi, after a lot of research I decided to do the PPT wrap. Given the price of the car an the security I would have for the daily type of possible nicks and scratches (including some off roading) I concluded it was worth it. Looking at price, Elliot Bay was in line and their vendor has excellent reviews. I'm having them add the "red" A to the hood and back door as well. I'll get the car early next week. Fingers crossed!!!!

I’m wondering if there’s benefit to organizing a group buy in Oregon on account of no sales tax? I know others would have to pay taxes upon registering in other home states, but maybe there’s so benefit to purchasing here? Or purchasing add-ons sans sales tax?

- Andy
Sales tax occurs upon registration.
If you buy something from Oregon, but live in WA you will still pay WA sales taxes when you register it to your home address in WA.

Finally getting an PO from RTGT in Wilsonville, OR. They're holding to MSRP but now want us to pay their corporate taxes they owe to the State. Anyone else get a Corporate/Privilege tax ding on their invoice? It's not a large amount but not something vehicle purchasers are responsible for. Thanks guys.

Ordered from RTGT in Wilsonville. I was only given MSRP as the price.

Thanks for the response. I'm guessing you ordered recently ?

Anyone else get surprises from RTGT?

Corporate/Privilege tax for OR is law, no vehicle sales tax at time of purchase. "Vehicle dealers in Oregon are responsible for paying the Vehicle Privilege Tax on the sale price of each taxable vehicle sold. Dealers may collect the amount of the tax from the buyer in the same manner and at the same time as the collection of document processing fees."

It's .5 of 1% or .005 the total cost of your vehicle transaction. As an RTGT customer, I didn't find this to be an egregious or "tacked on."

Best of luck with your decision.

I had never been hit with this in Oregon before. It's a somewhat recent law change. There's no stipulation that the buyer must pay the taxes - but it's legal for the dealer to pass on these fees so it basically becomes an Oregon sales tax determined by the purchase amount. Great.

Yes, not exorbitant. But the general lack of accurate communication, ignored requests and little surprises seems to be a constant feature of my experience so far. Hopefully yours and others' have been different.

This is a shocking contrast to my experience. RTGT is a premium dealer and the experience should match.

Ask to speak with Tanner if your sales rep isn't cutting it.

I've never been hit with this either, but all my recent vehicles have been purchased second hand. RTGT didn't mention the tax to me, so I assume I'll see it when I get the final bill. Reading through the description of the tax (link posted earlier), it does seem like a user tax. If you buy a vehicle from a dealer in WA and try to register it in Oregon, you have to pay the tax... so that basically puts the onus on the vehicle owner, not the dealer. Since the state itself says the tax is payable by the vehicle owner, I'd be surprised if any dealer didn't pass this along.

Anyway, all news to me.. so thanks for the heads up guys.
