Just got back to Sydney, having racked up approximately 17,400kms.
Corrugations, forest, coastal sand and desert tracks, a couple of river crossings and a LOT of tarmac.

Only serious fault was a Steering Control Module failure noted elsewhere on the Forum.

This coincidentally occurred within 50kms of a dealership, who offered a priority workshop slot in the next AM, provided a loan vehicle, had the component in stock and effected both the repair and the software update overnight. Even if it had not occurred nearby the dealer this fault did not effect forward progress. Lights, wipers and constant alarms sure... undoubtedly annoying but nothing to stop you in the middle of nowhere.

Minor faults included PDC hallucinations, intermittent rattles, sticking door buttons and a seat belt clasp that spontaneously disassembled itself.

Never ran out of clearance or had to use traction boards or shovel.
Appreciated the 80L of auxiliary diesel, the 4 x jerry cans paid for themselves in fuel savings. Could have managed with 2, however.
Dual battery system worked fine, fridge and StarLink/inverter combo failed to trouble the system in it’s standard configuration.
Solar blanket run through secondary battery worked fine and stayed ahead of other consumers.

Having established that there is functionally no issues with the vehicle, attention now shifts to mods.

Top of the list are springs and a move up to 285 KO2s, or perhaps the slightly larger KM3s… and storage/load solutions for the rear loadspace and roof.

Are you thinking of a lift or just updated springs 🤔. I figure I need uprated or
lifted springs so the vehicle is at original height when loaded for touring.

Just the lengthened springs to compensate for sag when loaded. I’m happy to keep the GVM as is.

Hi Gregors, I too have a standard Aux battery setup. How did you connect you solar blanket? Where did you attach it?

Many tanks,
Joey

Heya Joey - Alligator clips to the auxiliary battery terminals. We have a Redarc blanket with solar controller included.

That is one helluva shakedown - nothing short of epic.

Ps. you seem to have drawn an abstract version of the Italian coastline.

Hey mate, so you can buy the redraw blanket and just connect to the terminals under the bonnet? Why isn't everyone doing that!

Well, you’ll need one with the solar controller included. I found the battery terminals under the rear seat a bit easier than the pole provided under the bonnet but basically yes, all too easy.
