Oil plug thread size and thread pitch?

I searched the forum and the interweb but cannot find the thread size and thread pitch for the B58 oil plug / pan.

I am changing my oil at 800 miles and would like to install a magnetic tip oil drain plug. The BMW sellers suggest it might be M12 / 1.5. Can anyone confirm they are the same?

It is a BMW motor with BMW parts.

I have a third party sump plug, but have not fitted it, so I cannot help. I did look at the specs, but that precise detail was not posted.

I haven't looked at plug location but could you put a Fumoto plug on and not risk hitting it off road?
