New Year Service Overdue Bug

So now EU and USA spec vehicles have reported the bug along with AUS. I wonder if the responsible party will claim the glory of annoying every Grenadier owner on the planet plus all of the service centres plus Ineos management.
It will soak up a lot of dealer service hours and won’t be cheap if every car needs to come back for a firmware update. My fingers are crossed that it will be a simple fix……… but I’m not holding my breath😊

It will take them 6 months to update every single car. God I hare tech in cars. I think I’m going to start looking for a 80 series Land Cruiser. I should have never sold my 1994. I’m not getting rid of the Grenadier but want something that will run when all these overly complicated car all choke on code.

Is this issue serious in any way?
I mean, I've got a little sticker at the top of my windscreen that tells me when my next service is due.
Very retro, but it's infallible 😃

I got the same thing today, except 1968 days as I clicked over 32,700km.

Looks like it is only affecting AU firmware so far.

Let's have a competition on who gets the highest number.

TALLY
Rok Dr 1869 days
Korg 1899 days
pedrogb1915 days
NixGrenadier 1940 days
ddv 1945 days (Aug 2023)
Fred 1950 days
Camilondo 1953 days
Ex-defender driver 1968 days
TheDocAUS 1968 days (Feb 2024)
douggie 1995 days
Badger4x4 2007 days
NeoGTi 2057 days
Tazzieman 2137 days
Clark Kent 2367 days

The numbers seem very random. The only thing I can see, is the date is before each car was even made - over 5 years ago. EDIT: every number is 4 digits and all are above 1800.
1840 on mine (just serviced before Xmas)

The Tazzie Devil is crushed by Superman. Wile E Coyote did better than he normally does against the Roadrunner.

Chook roasts Rok Dr for the lowest number of days.

First car outside ANZ makes an appearance, with White Bear smoking his peace pipe. Problem not limited to AU firmware.

POX TALLY (Updated)
Chook 1840 days
Itsdchz 1841 days, first US car to get the pox
Rok Dr 1869 days
Korg 1899 days
pedrogb1915 days
WhiteBear 1931 days, first car outside ANZ
NixGrenadier 1940 days
ddv 1945 days (Aug 2023)
Fred 1950 days
Camilondo 1953 days
Ex-defender driver 1968 days
TheDocAUS 1968 days (Feb 2024)
douggie 1995 days
Badger4x4 2007 days
acky 2048 days
NeoGTi 2057 days
Wile E Coyote 2095 days
Dschubba 2097 days
Tazzieman 2137 days
Clark Kent 2367 days

All numbers remain above 1800 and all are still 4 digits. Only one number has been repeated 1968. And why this year when it did not occur last year?

Running commentary updates 😂

ONE
The Tazzie Devil just gobbled up the Honey Badger to take the lead, with King Korg now far behind.

TWO
The Tazzie Devil is crushed by Superman.
Wile E Coyote did better than he normally does against the Roadrunner.
First car outside ANZ makes an appearance, with White Bear smoking his peace pipe.

THREE
Chook roasts Rok Dr for the lowest number of days.
And later:
… you just go smoked by Chook.

FOUR
If you were just two numbers lower, you would have turned Chook into roadkill.

FIVE
Itsdchz 1841 days, first US car to get the pox

Probably not BUT this sort of low level date bug can have nasty consequences if the same code is used elsewhere in the cars systems which could result in limp mode for example. We won't know until Ineos looks at the code. Shall we take bets on how long we listen to crickets until we have substantive information from Ineos on the details of the underlying issue and whether there are deeper consequences and how they will deploy a fix?

Just reset 2 weeks ago
And now another 5 hour drive to the dealer??????

REBOOT DOES NOT HELP
Has anyone done a complete reboot of the Head Unit? Did it change anything?

EDIT: it did not help when I did it, but the number of days has now turned over to 1969, up one from earlier in the day.

Correct and confirmed reboot does not help. However if you triple click the mode button it will turn off for your entire drive until the next key start. And then you just have to do that again. And again.

1927 for me

A good friend yesterday rang me to tell me their Tesla had a special NY light and sounds function just delivered to their vehicle.

I rang them this morning to say that Ineos also has delivered a NY light and sound function, but it goes Bong and you can’t turn it off.
