Is a USED Ineos Grenadier better than a Toyota 70 Series?

Sad thing is, we aren't living in the 90's anymore. We are stuck with what our collective governments have given us.
If you are looking at it in a 90's view, which would you choose? Bearing in mind the Grenadier wouldn't have to have the regulated problems it has and could therefore be the easy fix mechanical vehicle we were promised. It then comes down to style, price, comfort and availability of vehicle and parts. If this were equal i would have the Grenadier, but that has years of technological advances in other areas.
The question is would you have a modern vehicle with the simplicity and ease of maintenance of the 90's or an old vehicle of the same simple maintenance?
Or are we talking investment values, that is a rabbit hole.

The 80 series from the 90's is actually more comfortable than the Grenadier, better seats, better steering and the 94+ models had better brakes and a fantastic HVAC .... and maybe even better sprung out of the factory.

I like this

I haven't gone down that rabbit hole just yet, as I am still contemplating restoring another 60 Series as well.

It was a tough call for us. I was considering redoing a 60 (aesthetically I prefer a 55) but when I guesstimated the cost plus a year or two of my time vs a new vehicle with a warranty, well, the Grenadier won out.

Both my 97s had fully power seats, which was nice and the steering was about the same as the grenadier. The AC though, even as temperamental as the grenadier is, the 80 left me and my wife hot and sweaty on more than one summer road trip. It’s especially bad for her n the passenger seat because the exhaust runs directly under the footwell. And at higher altitudes, heavily loaded climbing up mountains passes the AC would kick off at about 235F coolant temp to save the engine. That’s not fun when you can only pull 45mph with no AC to cool you down.

Agreed, the HVAC in my '97 was far from stellar or reliable lol.

Kind of surprised by that. I had a '95 with the 1hd and over the 160k miles I ran it, the HVAC never missed a beat, not even in 45 - 47 Deg C, across a UK to Tanzania trip.

The mecanical specs depends which market the Land Cruiser was originally delivered in and what engine it was delivered with. The cooling package, fan hubs, radiator size and HVAC systems rear axle type and weight rating, rear brake type, GVM, even manual transmissions and transfer cases varied in the same body type between each market.

Yup. In the UK the last few years things largely gravitated to the VX spec.

My hzj105 is a GCC Gx :) but has Aircon and the long ranger from factory. However, does not include the winter pack!
