I just had my Grenadier serviced at the Sunshine Coast dealer and despite them quoting me $930 it ended up costing $921.

They had the vehicle for two days and gave me a Mazda CX60 as a loan car to use.

They fixed all the issues I had raised (eventually) and also told me they did a few other things that Ineos advised for my vehicle.
I think they referred to them as campaigns.

I didn't ask what they were but it did show the importance of getting the vehicle serviced at an Ineos dealer.

I have to say that while the Mazda CX60 is no doubt a fantastic vehicle, and perfect for lots of people, I hated every minute of it.

Tiny buttons everywhere that I couldn't read the labels on without a magnifying glass,
A huge bonnet that just sloped away to nowhere.
Speed warnings, lane departure warnings, vibrating steering wheel if i got close to either centre or side lane markings.
At one stage I smoothed out a bend on a twisty road, or at least I tried to, then the steering wheel fought me and aggressively steered the car back within the lines.
The biggest issue was the slightest movement of the steering wheel caused considerable direction change of the vehicle.
Great on a race track but damned annoying on the road.

Strangely the Mazda felt significantly larger than the Grenadier when driving it but clearly isn't.

How good it was to get back into my Grenadier with fantastic vision, no nanny controls to annoy me.
A relaxed steering wheel that just yelled out "your in control Dave"

I previously owned a Mazda CX5 and a BT50 so very happy with the brand but doesn't even come close to the simple pleasure of driving a Grenadier. (for me that is)

I would say that if there were issues or campaigns or other things to sort out with the vehicle, that IA would advise us promptly of such issues before they become worse so that timely repair can be achieved. Otherwise, they are non-issues and can be dealt with anytime outside of servicing which then allows us to use independents and save money as is our right.

I believe these campaigns (mandatory work orders / service bulletins) are the ones you can find under 'resources' on here. I would want IA notifying me of any, then I choose the significance or atleast look myself, could save alot of money or time before heading on a big trip. Eg the double nut now needed on steering arm or Still checking transfer case serial numbers. My agent said they can not release the bulletins/orders to me. They could name them over the phone though (naming may not be enough to check myself). IA isn't sending them out either. So if you are servicing elsewhere you won't hear about them.... Except through here I guess. I love this forum!

Imagine breaking down 1000kms from yonder because IA 'didn't' want to send these notices out... or a crash caused by lack thereof.

Imagine the sky falling! A plane might drop out of the sky. Does that even happen?
Sitting here in Dublin airport lounge, worrying terribly 😁

Imagine dying because of 'turbulence'. Maybe that is too soon but shit happens and when it does...

Had 15K service $760 performed by local specialist Euro servicing agent. All as per service schedule. Beats the near $1K quoted. Happy days.

Software update too? Could they also clear service log thing
Update will be done at dealer if required along with a few other repairs/fixes.

Couldn't clear service log though I'll get dealer to do that also. Considering we can't clear logs via MTA agents is sad. My tech is up to date with the latest BMW scan tool but IA have their own codes for their B57.

Last week I had an independent mechanic redo the service of my car, or possibly service it for the first time. They are a Bosch service centre who I was hoping would be able to do all service/warranty work as promised when I ordered my car but that never eventuated. I also had them provide a full report on the car which they did, photos and all as they went. For substantially less than our local agent/dealer charged me to do apparently nothing.

I sent the report and photos back to the agent/dealer who ended up giving me a full refund with a "not an admission of guilt" caveat but no explanation or anything, literally a 1 sentence response.

My current situation is now that the warranty work that I either asked to be done, or knew had to be done has yet to be done. And there's also some soft recalls I'm aware of that I don't know if they have been done or not due to my lack of trust with the agent/dealer. And this isn't going to be able to be done by an independent mechanic.

The independent mechanic did pick up some issues that I will need to get looked at under warranty though, more significant than I was already aware of, all which should have been picked up during the service if it ever happened.
- Power steering reservoir is leaking quite a bit
- Right rear shock seal is leaking and the shock should be replaced, can't see it when the car is on the ground due to the dust cover but as soon as it's lifted on a hoist and the axle drops it's blatantly obvious
- Front diff pinion seal is leaking, the independent mechanic drained out 0.4L less oil than service spec sheet stated (2.1L, it was basically 1/4 of it's oil short), quite a worry as it means I've been slowly losing diff oil
- The fluid leak on my gearbox sump is not from the gearbox, the fluid has ended up there via a leak coming from the torque convertor housing. They suspect it to be an engine main seal leak but will need to remove the gearbox from the engine to confirm

It's quite worrying that none of this was picked up during the alleged service, if undaressed these issues would at best result in significant rectification work in the future (diff/engine failure) or possibly a serious accident.

I've been in contact with Ineos support, it's been handballed around a bit but am assured a regional manager based in AUS will be in contact shortly, though after a week I haven't heard anything...

Good pick up by your tech if that is the case... best to know raise that with IA and see what they can do about it... but it looks like you started the process and keep pushing it hard mate.

Bit of a pain, I'm leaving to go on a multi-1000KM remote trip tomorrow, have let Ineos know my concerns regarding reliability/safety but not getting much back from them. And no one at the agent/dealer seems to want to talk to me, been getting told to call back later each time I call all week... Not a good look for the brand in AUS...

And may as well name names now, local agent/dealer is Adelaide Hills Motor Group in Bridgwater. They are terrible, at best grossly incompetent but more likely screwing people intentionally, it would be difficult to be as incompetent as they appear.

Our original agent was under the same banner in Fullarton, however they were brilliant! That location was shut down semi-recently with all staff, those that knew the Grenadier, made redundant (but given their final few days of work to train their replacements). Quite a shame, the sales staff there knew their stuff and their service team knew even more, the car inside out and mods etc. And any concerns were sorted either on the spot or as soon as they had the parts required, no need to book in, just drop in and all was done. Loved owners dropping in for chat etc. You couldn't fault them if you tried!

Car 'workshops' are just as bad as tradies now - ripping people off and people are happy to keep paying for the service. I see some shows here in SEQLD throwing out $150/hr charge for a mechanic... hahaha. I bet that mechanic is getting $46/hr!!!

All manufacturers have "silent" recalls that are done by their dealers
BMW had a small battery behind the dash that backed up the clock and the holder was loose causing heating that had to be replaced.
Owners were never advised it was needed or done despite the fact it was due to vehicles catching fire due to lithium battery failure.
Mercedes had a bonnet release cable that was replaced due to the wire stretching over time and use.

There would not be many Aussie mechanics getting $46 hr working for some one. $150hr would nearly be the average in capital cities. There are shops pushing $180hr+. Mechanics generally the lowest paid of the trades with some of the highest overheads and pressure from employers, constant technical changes and especially pressure from customers that know every thing and really know nothing and are more abusive and entitled now. Mechanics are expected to have a high cost investment in tools and keep investing in tools worth more then tool allowances and for some, pay for skills upgrades with minimal pay increases for the extra skills all to make some one else's business succeed. It is not a good trade to be in these days and many highly skilled mechanics are leaving never to return. They literally can go and do many less skilled lower stressed jobs for the same wages and the employer supplies all the equipment.

$46 hr on Gold Coast for stock neck maybe $55 if your gifted... $180 is stupid and as the next recession kinds it will be a fast crush of the over charging being done here in Australia.

You can earn $200K as a stop go traffic controller in VIC... no wonder we are all going broke at the state level!!!

Correct.
"Hi *****
INEOS doesn’t blanket issue campaigns or work orders. These are only issued to authorised Agents & no they are not permitted to publish that information. Campaigns are typically VIN specific. There’s a legal structure that governs how manufacturers must act when it comes to campaigns. With safety & emissions being direct contact & / or public announcements. To next point of contact / service updates.
Best,
