Did you check the whole circumference of the boot. They usually fail in one small section first. Then they open up fully later.View attachment 7922613

I have a spare driveshaft so I'll pay for labor and it's under warranty. I could have replaced it in the field but since the boot still appeared to be intact and wasn't running hot, I decided to limp home instead. I'll keep the one they take off and I will rebuilt that one with a new Teraflex cv and keep as a spare. I probably could do the swap myself including putting on the oem springs but what appears to be simple never is.@jvkintheusa doesn't that mean you'll have to replace the entire axle? wouldnt it be easier to just go the terraflex route regardless if you keep the lift or not?
Missing the circlip? That sounds like it was lucky to make 10 miles let alone whatever you put on it! Unless they mean a different one?Got the result from my failed CV from Ineos today. Looks like the previous owner did not have the Teraflex CV replacement installed correctly.

Can you be sure to get your old CV and boot. I'd like you to cut the boot for inspection.Yep, going to put a new CV on and use it as a spare.

If your finger tips go "ssss" it's too hot.Could you elaborate on how to evaluate the temperature of the transfer case CV joint?
