5 Year Trip in a Grenadier Across the World towing a Patriot X3 Which We Live In.

Hi Matt, apologies, I really thought it was an output seal as this type of failure hasn't happened before (not that I've seen anyway) and it coming from the rear, glad it was picked up before catastrophic failure
It’s all good. Quite a few people thought it was an output seal hence why I put it up again with more info. 👍😊

I've had a stub axle snap on a trailer before, but that was on little low profile tyres at 90 PSI. I'm shocked that that one broke with big soft tyres on and decent suspension. Are they sending you out a new one?

We were also a little shocked, although I was aware of Justin's one in Mongolia before this happened to us.

What Happened: Patriot put us onto Cruisemaster. Cruisemaster said they would offer to provide the arm under goodwill, (excl labour, freight, customs and any other additional fees we would've incurred) but not the hubs, backing plate, and other loose items, even though all of them were no longer useable after what happened. (You can see the brakes in pieces on the ground near the trailer in the video)

In the end, we decided to fit the arm with the full brake assembly they had in stock at Patriot in Mongolia, just so we could carry on our journey without further delays. (2 week lead time for an arm, plus however long the brakes would take, plus all the shipping joy) Luckily, this happened in Mongolia where there's a Patriot dealer. Ultimately, we had to suck it up, plus the cost of recovery. Not a cheap day out that's for sure!

Patriot have since changed the suspension setup on their Gen 2 X3s. There's no issues with the Gen 2 X3s now regarding this particular problem as far as I can see.
