@Matt P -- On the Air Con, have you tried the "start-up" and "shut-down" procedure?

Basically, every time before you turn off the ignition, make sure all three air con dials are turned completely counterclockwise (i.e. fan off, full cold, face vents only). Don't restart it again until the computer has had time to go to sleep (3min 35 seconds from locking the doors for mine). When you restart, turn the ignition one step short of turning the engine and allow the computer to run through its start-up checks (you will end up with only 3 or 4 warning lights on the dash, unless you are in offroad mode). Once the warning lights are stabilized, turn-over the engine. Then you can start the air con. I don't use the auto function.

I find this procedure has 100% success rate on mine for "resetting" the AC when it starts it thing of only blowing hot air. If I remember to follow this when shutting down, it is about 95% successful in preventing a repeat.

Sometimes I'm in a hurry though and forget to shut down the AC before turning off the engine and about 30% of the time the problem will return.

I seem to recall you had some experience in the aviation industry, just think of this like your prestart and shutdown checklists.

This when we’re doing what we’re doing is not very practical and shouldn’t be necessary after spending the cash that we all did. I’ll give it a go but I don’t see this as the solution unfortunately. Thank you for sharing though, I’ve seen it mentioned multiple times with varying success across owners.

Yeah its at best a work-around, not a fix.

Totally agree although we’re always watching them or ensuring they’re in a safe space to do what they want to do. Once you’re out of Western Europe, everywhere is so family friendly and family orientated that everyone becomes part of the family and helps take on the responsibility. We’re very comfortable to let them do what they want to do and it’s a big reason we’re doing this trip so they could grow up like we did. We’re not naive though, someone is always keeping an eye on them just in case. We prefer big open places where they can roam as far as the eye can see, you do have to watch for glass unfortunately, it seems to be in a lot of places you wouldn’t expect. People drinking then smashing their bottles…

I was sure you always had them in the corner of your eye, but the freedom is just unheard of nowadays and something i am very glad I could experience as a child rather than sat in my bedroom talking to all kinds of weirdos on the Internet.

Very sad about the glass. Everyone that campaigns to get rid of plastic bottles and go back to glass don't realise that whereas the plastic is visible for years on end in the environment when not disposed of correctly the glass is lethal to animals, humans and a cause of wild fires. This was one of the reasons plastic was so warmly received, knowing that children were less likely to be hurt by broken glass when playing. It just gets broken and hidden ready to cause harm. If we want to save the planet we just need to be respectful of it and not just throw all our rubbish in the sea or a hedge. Sadly no matter what ideas we come up with we are never going to stop this.

Uk it's an issue, and now with disposable barbecues and you general morons we get more fires over here too. Glass was blamed for starting fires over here by the fire services.

I think you'll see dry lightning causing more fires as the climate changes.
Big problem in Tasmania , esp with so much uninhabited/inaccessible wilderness areas.
