5 Year Trip in a Grenadier Across the World towing a Patriot X3 Which We Live In.

Great episode! Well done on the trailer license plate repair! :) I regret not making the time to see Kyrgyzstan when I was in the area (Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan).
Glad you're still enjoying the journey as things progress! As for the licence plate, it was a good job that's all it was. Lesson learned for sure - in another situation, we may not have been so lucky! As for not making the time to see Kyrgyzstan, you know how it is, there's always more to see and do, whatever you're up to. We have similar thoughts sometimes but you can't focus on that, you just have to make the most of what you decide to do at the time! If you do another trip out that way, I'd definitely recommend checking Kyrgyzstan out, it's changing fast. It won't be the same place in 5 years.

Hi @Matt P
I'm always impressed by what you do with your Grenadier. And in my opinion, Ineos has built an excellent off-road vehicle. Especially you and @Logsplitter, who are on the road for months, and many others here who have to rely on the Grenadier can certainly confirm that.
Hi Rovie! Why thank you. 🙏 As for the Grenadier as a product, you’re spot on. We love ours and have no regrets buying it for the journey we’re doing. It’s not perfect but nothing ever will be. In our opinion, as long as the important bits are built and operate properly, the rest we can live with. 😊

Well said, irritations are not ideal, life and surviving is when you are so remote.

Nightmare!

Dunno what to say.. Hope you get it sorted.. Can’t be easy sourcing a new fully kitted out trailer in Kyrgyzstan.. Months???

So sorry to see that, what a shame, but glad you guys are ok.

The trailer can be replaced, you and your family cannot.

Next weekend is Overland Expo in Flagstaff AZ, maybe one of the vendors would be willing to put up a donation jar to help with the financial hit of this?

If there is anyway this community can help, dont hesitate to ask, you’ll find a lot of sympathy here.

Hi Tom, a nightmare indeed and it all happened so fast. Sourcing a fully kitted out trailer like the X3 in Kyrgyzstan is a non-starter unfortunately…

Thanks Leeroy! Like you say, the trailer can be replaced but not us, that’s the main thing.

As for outside help and support, it would be obviously be appreciated but we’re great believers in everything happening as it should and so if that happens, great. If not, it’s ok, we’ll find a way through this. It’s really not ideal and it’s a huge financial hit as you can probably imagine but there’s a lot of people that need more help than us in the world right now.

As for your offer of help from the community, once again, if that occurs, we’d be very grateful. At the moment, we need to gather our thoughts and make a plan from here. 🙏

I'm stunned - of all the disasters I could imagine, that was not one I had considered, (remembering I'm the one who drowned his Grenadier!)
This made me laugh Jeremy! 😊 (In a strange way I guess, I always like to look at things with a positive spin) As we all know. Shi*t happens. The main thing is we’re all ok.

I don’t think either of us expected these things to happen to us but we just have to roll with the punches, stay calm and come up with a plan going forward.

We really feel for what happened to you and it just shows how fast things can change in a matter of seconds… was there any final resolution your end? I always think of your post before entering water.

@Matt P. Unexpected and unwanted but it's another landing you've walked away from and your crew are safe 🙏
You have a career of managing risk and contingency planning so you'll be ok.

You're not poor but you are severely disrupted. I would be happy to contribute to a GoFundMe style campaign if you guys can accept a hit to your humility and allow this forum to help get you underway. Slap a forum sticker on your vehicle and call it sponsorship if that helps. It's definitely not charity and not without obligation. Your adventures are authentic and we need to see more. We have needs too Matt 😉

If there is someone back home holding SAR for you perhaps they could set something up while you triage what's in front of you.
