stopped right at "authoritarian functions"..
No one FORCED anyone to buy the IG. For those who truly think the inability to disable a SAFETY feature, permanently (or just by "thinking it"), is "authoritarian", they should do themselves a favor and return the vehicle and buy a 78 AMC.
Was that the Gremlin?

Dude everyone here should know who she is. Posting her public LinkedIn profile isn't doxxing.
Dude, did you receive her consent to post her contact information? I had no idea who she was.

Check the wiki definition of doxxing. Without her consent, you lifted her name and contact info from LinkedIn and posted it to this site for the sole purpose of flooding her inbox with complaints. That’s doxxing.

If it’s no big deal, reply with your real name, where you work, your title, etc.,
I bet you don’t.

I just put over 1000 miles on mine from FL to NC mountains and back. 85mph+ one handed, no problem.
It was the best vehicle I've ever had in the mountains. It holds gears going up and down elevation better than anything I've driven. Normally I manual shift going up and down mountains to keep off the brakes and to keep the trans from jumping around. The Grenadier held gear so well.
While not a significant grade to climb, she handles Old Fort like it was flat. Had to slow down only because of others on the road.

Along these lines, if you want a "G" in the US, it comes with ADAS. Period. It along the same lines that you can't import a Defender that is less than 25 yrs old.

Have you priced those?

I am a big AMC fan and previously owned a ‘74 Ambassador, and a ‘73 CJ5 (which at the time was AMC!).

What is about a government requirement in the EU and a government request in the US makes this a communication issue? Why does Ineos owe an explanation. It’s self explanatory.

Over speed warning is a user defeatable feature that the government requested be included. As a new import, would you advise Ineos to deny the request from the highway safety agency? Would that be apologist?

Ineos doesn’t owe you a reply when you ask a ridiculous question.

Was that the Gremlin?
Its ugly for sure…i had to look it up.

For the love of all that is good, we knowingly bought a European SUV. It is mandatory in Europe to have passive speed warning systems installed in all vehicles manufactured in the EU since 2022.

The NTSB, a U.S. government agency, has asked all U.S. makers and importers to install similar devices. Compliance is currently voluntary but will likely be mandatory in the very near future.
It's not lawfully required and this is the USA. Contacting the product manufacturer is exactly what we should do. Linking to publicly-available data is not doxing.

You are right that political feedback is also required to ward off future legislation, but there is no law in the USA that requires this today.

Furthermore, the demo units we drove when they came into the country last year as a "preview" of what we were ordering, did not have these intrusive systems.

In America we can buy an 700+ HP RWD car off the lot that has no nannies and will disable all traction control systems by hitting one physical button twice.

My dealer said that Ineos needs to hear from enough of us by calling the customer service line and logging a complaint/feedback about ADAS.

I called and spoke to a very nice representative. From my name or possibly phone # she had some access to my "account" and said she would be happy to log feedback and send it up the chain. The two things I mentioned were ADAS disabling and Start/Stop being remembered between starts.

Unelected agencies making up their own mandates and then forcing all manufacturers to implement them is entirely consistent with the dictionary definition of authoritarianism.

The system to me doesn't seem any slower than the self check out lane at Whole Foods. Some days just have to take a slow breath.
If I get in the car, start it, and hit the FAV button, I can count slowly to at least 5, sometimes much longer, before it takes me to the programmed screen. Sometimes it never makes it there.

You are definitely not experiencing the norm. Has this been an issue since purchase? Are you on the list for a software update?

Correct. There is no law requiring it. However, the NHTSA requested it of all automobile manufacturers in 2023. Please see the press release link I provided earlier to educate yourself on the issue.

As with every maker, there will be model year changes. I have no idea what model year Grenadier you tested but the unit that I test drove in January, 2024 had the ADAS system. All 2024 model year Gren’s have it. Are you suggesting that Ineos tricked you at point of sale with a modified unit?

Yes, you could buy a 700hp engine in the past… but times are changing. Technology is evolving and, without a political upheaval, the nanny state will continue to expand. The over speed warning that Ineos choose to include as per the NHTSA’s request is currently easily defeatable. I doubt that will be the case in the future.

As for third party publishing an Ineos executive’s contact information on an enthusiast forum without that person’s consent: it is absolutely doxxing. Please look up the definition of doxxing if you need clarification.

There is a customer service mechanism in place to handle these issues. The person who published the Ineos executuve’s information did so with the sole intention of harassing the Ineos executive because they’re annoyed they have to push two buttons to disable the government requested speed warning. There is absolutely zero need to usurp the chain of communication because the clicks are annoying them. Doxxing is publishing someone’s contact information without their consent. Period.

Just because someone chooses to list their phone number in their neighborhood directory or county club phone list does not give another party the right to publish the information elsewhere. LinkedIn requires a login and, in many cases, a paid subscription to view a member’s information. It is assumed that these requirements will defeat spammers and harassment. But not on this forum…

According to a few of the users here, you’re supposed to email the CEO directly. You know, because people being annoyed with pushing two buttons to defeat a government requested safety feature is the most pressing thing on her plate…

She posted her public profile on a social media site. Either you're saying she doxxed herself, or it's not doxing because she posted it with her own consent.
She published it there. You published it here.
Is that hard for you to understand??
Her contact information is her property. It’s not for you to bandy about.
If you feel that you can just randomly publish a person’s contact information wherever you please, why not publish it to a porn site or some other nefarious place? That oughtta get her attention.
Again, I defer to the Wikipedia definition of doxxing which absolutely supports my argument and wholly defeats yours.

Ok, let’s keep things in perspective. Type in Lynn Calder into google and the first hit is her linkedin profile from over 1 billion linkedin accounts (apparently), so we are hardly outing someone. If it were a personal instagram account or my space or some such then I think that is slightly different but as she is the public head of an Automotive company and this is a professional social media account it’s probably ok. If not then I’ll be sure to have an email by 8:15 uk time Monday in my inbox.

As mentioned elsewhere on this site and in the guidelines. Please keep people’s personal address, email and telephone details off the site unless you have the ok from that individual.

Thanks.

Stu.

It's actually worse for the "authoritarian" argument if they "merely asked" and the company felt compelled to comply because then we don't live in a world of laws. Either it's law or it's not, and in this case it's not.

As with every maker, there will be model year changes. I have no idea what model year Grenadier you tested but the unit that I test drove in January, 2024 had the ADAS system. All 2024 model year Gren’s have it. Are you suggesting that Ineos tricked you at point of sale with a modified unit?

You don't need to put words in my mouth. The units we test-drove in late 2023 did not have ADAS to the best of my knowledge and memory.

Yes, you could buy a 700hp engine in the past… but times are changing.
You say that as if I'm referring to ancient history, or even 5 years ago. That is factually incorrect. The '23 Hellcats are still for sale and the 2024 model year TRX has the SC 6.2 also (700+ hp). No nannies and, at least on the HC, all safeties can be disabled by pressing one button twice, if one wishes to do that.

As for third party publishing an Ineos executive’s contact information on an enthusiast forum without that person’s consent: it is absolutely doxxing. Please look up the definition of doxxing if you need clarification.
Someone posting a link to a LinkedIn profile is not doxing.
