After hearing the driveshaft horror stories, I populated my Gren's toolbox with an IR gun. The CV joints at either driveshaft didn't reveal anything out of ordinary. Last Saturday I had several extended SoCal highway runs - with air temperature around 75F and typical I-5 speeds. I got under and hit the centers of the diff covers with the IR gun: the front read between 50 and 55C (122-131F), but the rear - 80 to 83C (176-181F). None are a cause for any concern, but a 30C (55F) difference is...
Does anyone aside from SPP (through RRE) and Rival make engine and transfer case skid plates? I'm not finding any other manufacturers or resellers. Final check before Cyber Monday is in the rear view mirror.
My Grenadier has had a couple of longer runs down to Cairns and back, when I used the cruise control. It seems to work well. It drops out automatically if you touch the brakes, as it should However, mine drops out all the time. If I go over a bump or cattle grid, it drops out. That's understandable and not a worry. Some times it drops out for no reason I can figure. Worst of all, if there is a gusty wind around, it can drop out very quickly, from a few second to a few minutes and I have to...
An observation when I drive a particular route. It is reproducible. When I drive to Christian & Vera (like the day before yesterday), there is a junction of a hillside street with another street where you have to drive a sharp turn over a fairly steep asphalt hump, about a meter in diameter. Whenever I do so, the Grenadier issues a bong, but there is no message on the screen and nothing seems to change. It is not like driving fast over a speed breaker, I'm quite slow in that moment: the...
Does anyone know if INEOS has updated and improved the brake traction control settings to improve the performance? It seems like, in all the tests I have seen, it is much less effective (or at least takes much longer to engage) than other competitive vehicles. It would be nice if they have updated that.
Today I was in my hunting ground and shiftet a couple of times from high to low range. Suddenly the little ring to delock the lever went loose and I couldn't shift the transfer case. I found out, a little bolt supposed to stick in the ring to connect it to the shaft that lifts up with the ring was missing. I took a little nail in sticked it from the backside in a hole in the ring. Now it works again. Will have to contact the service soon. Is this a known issue? Regards sauerländer
Thread 'What's this? (Manual Park Brake Release)'
Friday I brought the grenadier home :p during the various checks carried out on the vehicle I noticed this thing on one side of the gearbox. It looks like a lever. do you know what it is for? Thanks
My daughter reported this one to me so slightly second hand. Whilst driving up a long steep hill (metalled road), the Grenadier felt like it was losing power to the point at which she thought it might start to roll backward. She stopped the vehicle, switched the ignition off / back on and proceeded as normal. She did seem to remember seeing the Transmission warning appear on the center console about the same time. Anyone else experienced similar?
This might have been asked before, but I couldn’t find it. And what I have found seems wrong. Does BTC ( or some form) still work in Lo range ? Either with centre diff locked or unlocked or with off road mode selected? ( front and rear not engaged either) I’m sure i have seen somewhere that it dosent work in Lo range, but seems a bit weird.
I checked the engine oil a month ago and it was 500ml short on the off-road. I went to the dealer yesterday and filled it up and it was 700ml. It's currently at 6600km and it seems to be smoother and quieter after filling the oil.
This morning I drove about 15 - 20 minutes at max. speed (160 km/h or 100 mph). Outside temperature at that time has been around 22 degrees Celsius. I then got a warning "motor oil level low" (yellow warning) I reduced speed significantly and had a look at the "offroad temperature" screen. This showed a transfer case temperature of 115 degrees Celsius which was outlined in yellow. Motor temperature and gear box where at 95 and 78 degrees by than. The temperature of the transfer case dropped...
Thread 'Zero (0 deg) Caster'
So I recently changed out my driveshaft for a new OEM one after 10,000 miles of off roading, towing, etc. I figured I was on borrowed time and kept checking my shaft (so to speak) before every trip. I was one of the first to lose their front shaft in 2024 while I was lifted on the 2.5 Eibach w/ stock arms so I have since kept an eye on things. Since Feb of 2025 my dealer installed the Metalcloak adjustable arms and did another alignment. I forgot to ask for the before and after results...
Thread 'transaxle to high/low gear level'
What do you think :Why such a long journey for the Bowden cable between the high/low gear lever and the transaxle ? Transaxle is just under the gear lever, but cable is 2 meter long !!
On my old Land Rover, I have a rubber coupling which dampens shocks and vibrations I did also have one (smaller() on my Kia Sportage GTline AWD Looking under the car I cannot see any such dampener Is the same objective achieved through other means ?
My rear diff developed a leak, a month (apx 1000 miles) after I got the truck back from the dealer. After truck tow to the shop, dealer found low fluid in the rear diff. Further test confirmed rear diff will need a rebuild or replace. Truck was driven off-roading and had high center marks. Unfortunately as of now, parts aren't available for the rebuild. I am wondering how IG would define normal use for a vehicle built to go anywhere...
Was out on some dirt and muddy roads, so I thought I’d try locking the center differential. Not sure I really needed it. Just wanted to try it. When I got back to pavement, I disengaged the center lock. But it kept on saying it was locked? It was a long straight road. I tried engaging the center lock and disengaging it. No effect I pulled over and with it unlocked cycled the engine and that didn’t change the locked state. It wasn’t until I got to a place where I could do some U-turns that it...
Thread 'Do you see evidence of a leak? No 4Low'
I have never needed to utilize 4Low until recently when I got stuck on a slope of a remote mountain in eastern Oregon. When I tried to engage it, it did not work. I double checked the manual and was utilizing the correct procedure and it still did not work. Since then, I have put the vehicle on some various terrains around my property and tried to practice engaging 4Low from all possible combinations (4high to 4low; 4high locked to 4low locked) and none work. I've given it an adequate...
I have read most of the posts on the subject and tried every possible avenue , but no way! When delivered my Grenadier had the gear lever pin out issue.Dealer replaced the Bowden cable. After that ,I could lock the transfer case, no problem But impossible to move from high to low either on locked or unlocked.I have extensively tried today in fields for the first time Many comments recommend to apply some force, but I am a bit loath to do that.My maximum pull has been about 10 kg Should it be...

They built my ZF in my M8 before, they called their rep with ZF there isn't a factory upgrade clutch kit like many have. The one in the Ineos stems from the same one used on the V12 7 series of old 50series but its gen3. 8HP51 which base starts at around 380-400tq numbers. There are...
When transmission is locked both both front and rear axles work in unison But I understand there is a Torsen system in the transmission case, so front and rear axles may be subject to different torques I do not think there are Torsen differentials in front and rear differentials Is the above correct? Now, add the ESC,and I am completely lost as to what happens when one wheel spins:does the Torsen regulate spin? Is ESC activated as well?
