Thread 'Trialmaster axle locker, how did they actually works='
I wonder if anyone is familiar with the operation of the Grenadier axle locks. Ineos says the switch is electronic (i.e. the one's on the roof), but the lock itself is mechanical. Attached are two photo's, one with the lock open and the other one, the lock closed. The only difference is the 10% rotation change of the "front pressure plate ????", photos doesn't really tell you what actually locks the crown gears? Nor does it tell you how the information about pressing the button in the cabin...
Why can’t this vehicle be flat towed? I am surprised that this is not available . It would be another option to be towed behind an RV
About to do a service on my Grenadier and would like some insight from people who’ve done it. Changing oil and filter this weekend and the plan is to change diff fluid next weekend. Where we got the Grenadier from they are saying they use Kendall Special Limited Slip 80w90 Looking at Grenadiers spec sheet they are calling for Fuchs Titan Supergear 80w90 For the life of me I can’t find where to buy the Kendall gear oil and when I look up the Fuchs I don’t see anywhere where it says...
After a brief run in sand, my transfer case wont get out of of Low Gear.. Checked the top end (shifter) and appeared nothing broken (yes I have pull apart the top and side cover) I can see the locker cable move in/out.. having difficult finding where is the Hi/Li lever on the transfer case.. wondering anyone encounter this problem??
Of all the mods to the suspension, one that I haven’t heard of is the ability to unlock the sway bar either manually (Jeep Rubi) or electronically/automatically (4Runner). Is it that difficult to post-engineer? How much is it worth? Would it cause issues with the standard tires or the upsized 285/70R18s? Or is a sway bar disconnect more of a ‘rock crawler’ mod? I’m starting to see that the Grenny seems to more targeted at the ‘overland’ role, versus being the ultimate rock climber...
Hi, I own a Wrangler and a Grenadier. Would you like to someone explain to me in detail what the difference is between the Wrangler's 4WD part time and the IG's High Center Lock?
Thread 'Rust on the drivers side front axle'
2 week Grenny owner… just asking if I should be concerned about rust on the driver side front wheel axle
My Grenadier had the well known vibrations and the rattling of the heat protection cover at the exhaust. The workshop had bent the protective covers so that the rattling went away for a while. But now it's back and much louder than before. When accelerating (from around 10 km/h) the noise is clearly audible, even when the Grenadier is 25 meters away. It seems to be coming from somewhere between the axles under the car. Anybody else?
Thread 'adaptive transmission procedure.'
This has come up a few times, and this is what was given to me by RDS Ineos. For ease of implantation, it's best to have access to an unused widebody runway.
Hello? When I measured the engine oil in the Grenadier vehicle information, I got two results, "Level On-Road" and "Level Off-Road". I'm curious about the difference between these two. I measured at 5025Km and got the results "Level On-Road=ok", "Level Off-Road=Refill 500ml". The user manual lists four types of oils: axle oil, transmission oil, transfer case oil, and engine oil, but it doesn't tell me where each oil is used, and the "Level Off-Road=Refill 500ml" message in the...
Apparently there is a tool shaped somewhat like an Allen wrench which functions like a dipstick to measure differential oil levels when replacing diff oil. Should be very simple to duplicate. Can the tool be purchased from Ineos? Alternatively, Is there a photograph of the tool floating around showing shape and dimensions so I can fabricate one?
G'day, I was doing some 4wd with a trailer (about 1t in weight). Using a mix of 1,2&3 gear in low range with centre diff locked. Cross axles unlocked. After quite a few descents reaching up to 3.5k revs, an error code appeared "drive train fault" and the yellow engine light illuminated. I stopped and it stalled. I waited a while then restarted and it was cleared. Anyone else come across this? Possible cause?
Thread 'Front Drive Shaft Update'
Long Story short. My last post showing my front drive shaft broken in Glamis, since Ineos doesn't want to cover it under the warrantyI took my car to Agile Offroad for some better aftermarket solution. Please note: All products installed on my car is still a prototype. John Brindell All thanks to Agile Offroad! I have both front and rear draft replaced with a U joint solution. The only cons is if you fully release the gas pedal at 70mph or higher you will hear some noise like 'Voom Voom'...
Hello. For the gernadier owners who have been interested in the 4x4 for some time now. Any idea if there are aftermarket diff locks in the works? Point is that i have a steal deal on a basic grenadier and i would like to add lockers later. Local dealer here doesnt seem to know if i can add a rough pack post purchase. Also coming from a jeep owner, i would like to bypass electronics safety and maybe use a rear diff lock while in hi speed. Would appreciate if anyone knows of anything that is...
Thread 'Changing the Differential Fluid'
I've never done changed diff fluid before so I am going to put my pride in the backseat and just ask. Are these these the drain/fill ports? From a process standpoint, my understanding is that this is pretty simple. 1) Start with a warm axle 2) Remove fill plug 3) Remove drain plug & drain 4) Replace drain plug; torque to 31Nm 5) Fill with SAE 80w90; 2.1L for both front and back 6) Replace fill plug; toque to 31Nm Am I missing anything?
Thread 'Front drive shaft outside wear visible'
I was just under my vehicle checking for any oil drips after changing the oil and filter the other night and noticed visible wear occurring on the front drive shaft in two locations. The wear on the left is metal on metal and the culprit is behind it. The wear on the right looks obvious as to the source, but I’m surprised it reaches that far (photo angle makes it look closer). I’ve done 26000 km (16000 ml).
2023 Trial aster Diesel. +/- 15 000km. I don't know if I'm imagining things, so want to get opinions. My parking bay is on a slight incline. When I drive in I have to brake to bring the vehicle to a stop, then put it in Park, and then lift foot off brake pedal. Lately I have been noticing that the Grenny rolls back a bit when I release the brake pedal. I can't remember that it was doing this before. There is no roll back when I pull up the hand brake. Feels odd. I don't remember having any...
Yesterday, my wife and I took our brand new Grenadier for its first day out on the trails in north Georgia. Overall the trip was a huge success, we LOVE the Grenadier and it handled everything we threw at it very easily. We go into a few situations that called for 4Lo and both lockers to get through, and on two occasions I got some bad gear grinding from the transfer case when switching back from 4Lo (center diff unlocked) to 4Hi (center diff unlocked) My procedure was: -Stop, put...
Thread 'HELP! anyone got any information on the front hub assembly? Mine is now in bits…..'
I broke a locking wheel nut a while ago and once the replacement stud arrived I drilled out the offending stud aand removed the wheel. The front studs are press in so I had hoped i could simply knock the old one out and press the new one in. No such luck! The studs hit the ABS ring on the way out so the only way to remove them is to remove the hub. I took off the tub cap and removed the retaining nut but the hub is on there solid. As I don't have any diagrams I can’t figure out whether it...
