I am sure this has been posted before.

I didn't order a tow bar during the ordering process, therefore yesterday I asked my agent to order one (a mistake).

Unfortunately, I was told that at the moment they cannot be fitted after market (so if you want one - ensure you order it when you place your vehicle order).

Does anyone know what is in place for a vehicle without a tow bar fitted? I will have a look later what is behind the cover.

I was facing the same issue, ended up ordering both the rear tow plate and wiring now as well the plate for the front. The front was merely for the option of a future removable winch. I’ve never used a winch in my life and the built in winch I believe seemed very over priced for something I may never use. In the desert where I plan to drive there are not many things to attach a rope to - maybe my Labrador?

I did not order one on mine but managed to add it, the tow-bar itself is easy there is just the bracket needed but the issue are the electrics. As far as I know no-one has worked out what is needed, maybe its all wired and you just need the loom connector to the plug (I guess thats the most likely and would work for all markets). I'm sure it will be possible, I would have thought something like link below will work for the Ineos if there is no direct plug in wiring.
LED Light Fix Bypass Relay Towing Electrics Socket
or
13 PIN Towbar Towing Electrics Trailer Socket WIRING KIT Modern Canbus Cars
I do hate those bodge-connectors though.

Im sure companys like Towsure will eventually bring something out for after sales.
I think the issue will not be the hardware (Towsure) but software tellingly the ECU and Canbus that a tow bar has been fitted.

The Configurator description for "Towing Mount Plate - Front" is awfully thin: "Equip your Grenadier for front towing. Fits directly within the modular front bumper and is compatible with the Removable Winch with Towing Mounting Kit."

Have you obtained any more detailed information about the wiring/software prep included? If not, I'm thinking this might be a good "Ask Ineos" question. If this will make it much easier (and perhaps save some money) to add an aftermarket winch down the road, then I'm checking that box.

I'd like to ask INEOS - but with all the other issues they are having I think it's as about effective as opening the door and yelling into the back yard. Seriously though - I've started looking at removable winches. I've ordered the front and rear tow bars/wireing. The built-in winch unit is very heavy and thinking a removable one would provide me what I need and not add any more fixed weight to the car. Also, I'd rather have it set up (rear tow) now than to add for later than face some of the fun people are having trying to jury rig after market. For the back tow plate - that is a no brainier to order now and have it there when delivered

Anyone had any experience of an INEOS agent fitting a tow bar and electrics after being delivered?

I think the agents will be "dissuaded" by Ineos from fitting after market tow bar and electrics until Ineos produce the products for them to supply

Same problem here. My dealer told me that “Ineos” told him, that at this moment, they can’t provide the aftermarket kit for towing. The baseplate and hook are not the problem. It’s the wiring and modules you need between the plug and the ECU. Probably this will be available in 2024.
But, you can simply add a tow hook (but first order the baseplate at your dealer) by a local specialist. It will function. You only will need to disable your parking sensors by pushing the button if you want to backup your vehicle with a trailer.
And also, you don’t have trailer assist…. But my old defender has non of these, and he did the job for years. So not a big problem. Just maybe a bit inconvenient.

I would like to fit a detachable tow ball to the front of the vehicle. My vehicle does not have a front winch and therefore no flap or cover on the bumper. My Series 2A had one fitted directly to the bumper. Have any of you thought about this? I'm thinking of the English guys in particular, as this was often seen on the Series Land Rovers there.

On my build I had the front tow plate added so I could use a removable winch - assume your dealer can add for you as well.

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, I missed this when I placed my order. Will it be possible to retrofit the current bumper? It would then have to be cut out. I will enquire.

@rovie The Towing Mounting Plate - Front (Factory-build Code ETA) is not available for UK/EU markets as it does not comply with pedestrian safety legislation. You would also have needed to have selected the High Load Auxiliary Switch Panel & Electrical Preparation.

Thank you @Arkaig That's exactly what it was. Now I remember again. I wanted this plate and also the roo bar and was not allowed to choose either. I have the high load auxiliary switches because of the Trialmaster version.
Maybe I can still find a solution. I need a fixed anchor point to which I can quickly mount the tow ball with a bolt. I only want to use it on private property.
