Stuck at Cape York

Some posters are calling Cadogan out for not accepting his mistakes in the earlier video (INEOS Hand Grenade) - where he also got it wrong.

Do not hold your breath breath waiting for Cadogan to admit fault.
Yes, it's amazing how he took on the manufacturer bashing role in his first video when he only had one side of the story. He mentions bad journalism in his most recent post and for mine, he's also guilty of bad journalism. Good journalism is about getting all the facts and then reporting them without bias, something he has not done on this occasion.

I see Cadogan's first two videos of this saga have been taken down and rightly so. It was certainly not 'balanced' journalism, far from it and as I recall a recommendation was made not to purchase. Seems that recommendation was based on an unverified story that the facts of the matter have now proved to be false. Shameful really.

I went to the first few meetings, but in the end I’m not really a club guy, and touring with any more than 2-3 vehicles would drive me mad. I’d love to attend info nights and that sort of thing, but I wasn’t going to spend $300 a year or whatever it was for the privilege. But yes, there is often too complex a dynamic in those sorts of groups, and all power to the committees who have to manage that stuff.
Yes, large groups for travel is like herding cats. One reason why W.A has resisted the move to a club is that too much BS as associated with them as you have mentioned. We keep it casual, just the way we like it, plus most don't see a benefit.

Well know we know Cado is frightened of lawyers. No doubt he'd self represent in any personal case. Possibly discredit the judge before the matter was heard.
He's seen enough of them (marriage lawyers) so he has first hand experience on how costly things can get

Not taken down yet, just removed from his channel.

I have held off with this comment but believe it is relevant and it hasn't been mentioned previously. No one has asked about or mentioned the club. The actual drowing of the car is not the issue, it is how events following could damage the club. How much damage has this fiasco done to the clubs reputation, how many prospective members are questioning the clubs ethics? The club has been mentioned numerous times in videos. There would of been both members and committee members on the trip complicit to the details and remained silent. Not everyone in a club can make it to big trips and there would be members and committee members quietly pissed off at the whole situation and the intense scrutiny the last few videos from creators have publicly brought to a new club trying to establish itself.
IMO the club missed the mark and should of reviewed at a meeting or a special event each video, voted on and approved by members and committee before a creator publicly released, possibly for income, any club sanctioned club trip videos to a public forum. If that had occurred this unfortunate event would not have appeared or just been another Cape misfortune video.
A bit of a rant but 4WD clubs and their committees need to be reputable and trusted for businesses, prospective members and land holders who give access and other who work with and help these clubs for the benefit of the members.
In fairness to the club and committee, the club I am involved with, a tripleader is responsible for a reece/advice of the track/trip and grading the difficulty plus giving the club members a scale of experience needed. With some day trips the tripleader will drive it maybe a week before and will give consideration of weather leading up to it and cancel if need be. The club event is insured but if you decide to break away you are on your own. That group then decides who will lead and should by rights be the most experienced and give advice on whether you should or shouldn't take that chance. Who was the leader?

I don't think the club should be held responsible for that group and their actions at all.

I never saw this as a club issue but rather two individuals who screwed up and then spun a web of lies to blame Ineos for their own personal poor decisions. In the process they created an internet firestorm that damaged the brand. Canny was the ring leader of the media mess and he needs to come clean. Maybe you Aussies are more forgiving than us Americans but that level of deceit gets you flat out cancelled here…. Unless you are a California politician then you can lie all day and nothing happens.

I can assure you that the Club is professionally managed to a high standard. Members are an "eclectic" mix of business owners, professionals, retirees .... age-wise they range from mid-late 30s to active septuagenarians🙄😎. Many have extensive outback touring experience with (for example), one recently completing a solo 16k+ km traverse of the Gibb River Rd and other parts of Northern and Central Western Australia. All members are encouraged to participate in an extensive theory based learning/assessment session followed by a weekend practical workshop at (usually) Black Duck Creek Park where various exercises in 4wd skills are demonstrated and practised. Part of the weekend is for "+1"/partners to give them confidence behind the wheel in case the main driver becomes incapacitated for whatever reason. Extensive First Aid courses are also offered. Completion of the Black Duck experience is also generally a prerequisite before signing up for any "technical" outings which the Club might organise.
The Cape York incident was a snafu pure and simple. Things happen. The main issues were safety related for the hapless driver. He was fully supported by accompanying members: they stayed with him, got the vehicle relocated out of the "traffic", waited for the flatbed etc.
At the meetings held since, the issue wasn't a big deal. Social media notwithstanding the members are actually empathetic to the situation... while the Pasco River dunking was inadvertent, it was not a failure of process or leadership by the Club.
We have a 'switched on' executive, including a most competent Technical Officer and a Training Officer We are fully registered with various State Govt authorities as required and operate under the auspices of 4WD QLD as do most other registered 4wd clubs.
Hope this clarifies things for our fellow interstate and international owner enthusiasts.
😊
Edit: "apparently" we do have 1 or 2 born-again octogenarians in our ranks 🥳🥳🥳😎
