Statistics/Poll Thread: Front driveshaft CV joint failures

I installed lift springs and 35s at maybe 500 miles, the terra joint maybe at 9K. And made it to about 25K before failure. With some hard off road use. But, never even got to shocks. But some have gotten more miles, some less. Probably above average.

Probably worth mentioning on future shaft failures what the part number of said shaft is. So far as I am aware there are two;

Original one in first photo, replacement in the second. Will be more data to see whether the average failure mileage improves with the new part number one.

I don’t think so many of us should be experiencing failures at the boot - one could argue that a lift exceeded the design parameters, but on stock suspension with stock wheels and stock tires? That is either faulty design or materials defect. And a lot of us are getting close to the warranty threshold. As you can tell, I am grumpy with them (IA) this morning. Having the engine go into limp mode while driving on the highway at 65mph while on cruise control set me off. The CV boot was just icing on the cake. My dealer, however, is being great about it. Super helpful, thorough and accommodating. Props to Knauz - thanks, ya’ dumb FIBs. Go Packers.

Yeah the boot failures could be the end for this current edition of Grennies. I'm going on a week long trip next week and keeping my fingers crossed all goes well. That's not how it should be. Got a spare driveshaft just in case. Hope none of the bolts are seized up..... Love the vehicle otherwise.

They could retrofit the current shaft FOC with a new boot material - or give us an extended warranty on this issue.

Not sure who will be in Moab this time from Ineos, but its going to be a frying pan.
