your boot looks similar to my rip
In my case it wasn’t the boot that failed first I understand. The vehicle was in for a service two weeks prior to the failure and nothing was picked up. It was only 300 to 400miles after that when the failure happened. The explanation from the dealer was that the C clip failed.your boot looks similar to my rip
I only noticed my rip when I was manipulating it. I think when in situ the only way you can be sure boot is ok is with a good ol' feel rather than just visual. Especially if not rotating the shafts. In my case it wasn’t the boot that failed first I understand. The vehicle was in for a service two weeks prior to the failure and nothing was picked up. Well then Ineos has a problem as the car should be build for these types of toadsWould the heavy corrugations encounted frequently on Australian out back roads excessively shorten CV life or boot life even at standard height?
Front shaftFront or rear shaft? Airbag in rear would be a tough denial of warranty if it was a front shaft.
Yeah, 10k miles seems to be the mark at which the boot fails.Just saw that my front driveshaft is on the fritz.
Mileage: 11,700
Lift: 1.5" Kings (for maybe 1,500 miles). Had it on the Eibach 2.5" for maybe 500 before swapping.
Shocks: Kings w/ adjusters
Failure: Boot ripped at the transfer case
I had no symptoms. Just saw it when I crawled under the vehicle after noticing a coolant leak. The suspension should have been installed with care given the shop is well known in my area and handles many Grenadiers. Had only taken it on a handful of offroading trips without any major obstacles. Rarely drive above 70 on the freeway.
No news on next steps, but I did buy a Terraflex joint. Im expecting the dealer to deny warranty.
Thanks.Really bad luck mate. Not the best news at this time of year. I hope you get some sort of outcome in your favour.
“Washington rights?”Failure here resulting in fire toasting the undercarraige.

Failure at approx 7200 miles
Owl Vans lift installed by prior owner; I bought the vehicle from Elliot Bay Ineos dealer at ~3200-3400 miles I'd have to check for the exact number and lift was on it. There is debate if it is the 2.5 or 4". Dealer cut sheet says 4", but it doesn't seem high enough for that. Owl was cagey when my shop tried to validate info and I was getting quotes to remove it. I was unaware of the shaft issues when I bought it. I'm going to reach out again and try to find a way to identify/specifics to measure.
Failed on open highway in Dallas, TX on a day with approx 500-540 miles of driving
almost all miles since i've owned it have been on-road with some minor light off road in groomed areas (like less than half a mile combined). Irony is our return drive on this trip was going to be when we finally took it somewhere fun :/
Ineos hasn't commented on warranty for the shaft but with the fire I suspect it's going to be totaled. Details in the drive shaft update thread. However the dealer said Ineos corporate is involved and may want to inspect it. My original dealer also asked me to waive my Washington privacy rights so Ineos corporate can contact me directly though that hasn't happened yet.
Fire required extinguisher and still needed fire department hoses to finish off the resulting petrol fire as the fuel lines failed. Transmission, engine, TC, most undercarraige wiring in front of the rear axle were all affected.
