CV failures
Station Wagon:

1 Lifted , 18,000 average miles at failure, 0% covered by warranty

Quartermaster:

Lifted -0, 0 average miles at failure, % covered by warranty

This first post will be updated with a running tally of failed front drive CV joints for information purposes for the good of the community. Please do not use this thread to discuss causes, ideas, replacements, Fosters, or which tire width is preferred. There are other threads for that. If I’m missing an important data, please let me know.

If YOU have a failure, please add a post on this thread with the following information:
Year, model, stock or lifted suspension (if lifted, how much, and approximate mileage lift was installed), mileage at initial failure, did warranty cover repairs, and type of driving (ie, 20% heavy off road, all road miles, etc.), and type of failure.

Station wagon
Stock suspension

complete cv joint failure caused I’m told by C-clip failure causing damage to gearbox, transfer box cable, oil pipelines and thermostat, heat shielding etc. . Ultimately new gearbox, transfer box cables etc .
This happened two weeks after a service at around 30mph On a tar road.
Repaired under warranty.

Did the warranty covered all related repairs?

😳 Wow year 2022 build in the USA. Is yours a prototype Grenadier. ?

2023 wagon

Suspension lifted at around 10000kms and 295/75 tyres

CV transfer and diff boot failed at 56000kms a mixture of lots of HWY and Outback travel.

No warranty, well actually no interest from dealer, both failed 300kms after major service…

Model year 2023
Station wagon
Stock suspension
Roughly . 18k miles
Boot split + leaking front & rear diff seals
Front Propshaft and seals being replaced under warranty on 3rd Nov - done 2k miles since identified (told it was OK to keep using)

95% On Road driving including many long Motorway trips

Note: Mine is an early build and the transfer box was replaced on recall at around 4k miles

Year: 2022
Model: Trialmaster wagon
Suspension: 2-ish inch, installed at ~500 miles
Mileage at Failure: 26,000 miles
Warranty: ? Fixed myself. T/C boot torn open about 500 miles after recent service.
Driving: 90% on road, highway high speeds

2024 Grenadier
Lifted 2.5" apparently according to my Owl Invoice.
King Shocks
Lifted at around 3000miles
Stock joint failed around 7k miles
Terra Joint failed at just over 14k miles
Installed new joint at 14,350.
No attempt at warranty due to lift and joints are cheap enough.

Admins, can you grant access to me to continue to edit my first post so that numbers can be updated as posts are made? For some reason I can no longer edit the post.
